feedback from friends who went...

if possible, get the evening ticket for few days, it is cooler, cheaper and less people. Most of the pavilions only good to look at from outside, inside nothing much unless for those well known ones which you can visit during day time.

You can buy from any post office there.

Buy a 3 day pass if you want to visit all the pavilions cos the more popular ones, you have to q for 2 hours to get in, these are in addition to the one hour q to get into the expo.

Buy lots of water and wear comfortable clothing, its summer there. Being stuck in a 3 hr q is no joke.

wow, 3 hour is very long.....how many hours can we spend inside after the tiring 3 hour queue?

how much are the ticket prices?

since it is possible to stay till midnight, is the taxi still operating that late and are they in abundance?

Prepare for long Q.

Now is summer season. Weather can be very very hot, can go as high as 38degC with no wind in the afternoon. I was there during last summer, it was like a big suana.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. I bought the evening tickets at 90 rmb, can enter at 5pm. Didn't really enter many pavilions becoz the queues were quite long and due to time constraint. Like Japan, Korea or Swiss, the queue is about 2-3 hours each. If you happen to go with elderly, handicap or young baby, got priority lane. But only one adult is allowed to accompany if you use the priority lane. Want in to a few but in general, i find them nice on the outside but pretty empty inside. For example, I went to the Spain pavilion, only show some projector screens and towards the end got one big mechanical angmoh baby (its like 10 meters tall) sitting there and blinking eyes. Then dunno why, many people just stand there take picture??? Also, you may want to buy the expo passport while you are there. it cost 30rmb. Basically, its just a blank passport for you to collect all the country chops when you visit the pavilions. more like a marketing gimmick i suppose. its like, a bloody cheapo notebook selling for 30 rmb. but still, you see many ah tiongs buying and getting their 'passports' stamped where ever they went. In conclusion, I find it a bit dissappointing, possibly becoz of the long queues and weather (around 25-30 deg when i was there).

Which pavilion is worth to go? Due to limited time, I may be there from 3pm~ 8pm only.

Oh by the way, they dun allow you to bring water in. They will check your bags before you enter. You can buy after you're inside. They also provide water cooler inside. For tickets, I just bought it at the entrance. Should not be a problem because most people there are on tour packages. So actually ticket booths are quite empty.

Sounds like your schedule is as tight as mine. 5 hours is good for you to walk around and take pictures outside. You may only have time to queue for 1 or 2 pavilion at most. I could only cover the sections on Pudong area i.e. walk around and take pictures on the outside only. There's another two sections at Puxi area, you can take ferry across the river. Ferry is free. Also you can take free bus transport within the expo. The whole place is like 5 square km. very huge. Anyway, you can ask for a free map once you enter. I can't really recommend you which ones to go becoz I didn't go many myself. my mentality was more like, been there done that just take some exterior photos enough liao. can't be bothered to queue up with so many people. Went in to NZ, Cambodia (no queue), spain, main theme pavilion, a few eastern european countires (no queues) only.
