13177 Hypersonic January 27, 2011 Share January 27, 2011 I'll be de-registering my '04 car soon...just before it reaches the 7th year. How come u need to de-registered your car before it reaches 7th year?
Silver_blade Turbocharged January 27, 2011 Share January 27, 2011 I don't want to keep the keep the car, collecting dust, any more. So it is better for me to de-register it before it reaches another year, which will mean lower paper value (COE). What for pay new road tax, insurance and have 10% lesser COE rebate if I already decided to get rid of it?
13177 Hypersonic January 27, 2011 Share January 27, 2011 If u have decided to get rid of your car, agree tht u should sell off fast. The longer u wait the less value the car wld be.
Silver_blade Turbocharged January 27, 2011 Share January 27, 2011 (edited) Yup...would have sold it even earlier if not for my mum wanting to use it during CNY. Edited January 27, 2011 by Silver_blade

Silver_blade Turbocharged January 27, 2011 Share January 27, 2011 (edited) U mean u will change car every 7 yr? I thought pple wld change car every 7 yr because that was the time when your car loan finished?! I don't think people change their car in accordance to the duration of the loan....otherwise how do we explain some people change every 3-5years. Actually it doesn't make much sense to de-register car after the 5th years, cos the reduction in paper value is minimal....only less 10% of COE every year. Take my case for example, I will only lose $1.4k/yr for the next 3yrs if I am to keep it till the 10th year. 13177 Hypersonic January 27, 2011 Share January 27, 2011 U mean if u didn't change car before 5 yr old, it is better and advisable to drive till 10th yr mark? So bo hwa to change the car btw 6-9 yr old?
Roh96 6th Gear January 27, 2011 Share January 27, 2011 The dep is usually the steepest for the first 5 yrs. From 5th yr onwards, the dep is more linear as the loss in paper value is only 10% of COE plus few percent of OMV. ↡ Advertisement
