Gotten my first scratch mark after 2 moths and 1 week. Accidentally scratched my rim last Friday while exiting from a carpark. The exit is narrow but I have parked there for 4 years. Turned a bit too early and my rear wheel mounted the side kurb.

I know it's minor but does anyone knows if it is possible to touch up as I find the mark an eye-sore? Arrigato.

Can any bros here enlighten me what is laser cutting rim? I have not gone to the recommended workshops. Was in talk with a car grooming workshop. In short, I asked if I could exchange the dent removal service to touching up the scratches on the rim. He asked what type of rim I have. No idea about the technical terms so I whatsapp the photo of the rim. He saw the picture and told me cannot touch up because it is laser cutting rim.

Hi all,

There are some issues with the aircon since I collected my K5 three weeks ago. It seems a bit warm when set at 23 deg and when set lower, the coldness fluctuates. C&C has replaced the control valve last week during the 1k servicing but problem still exists.

Just like to ask whether u guys have such problem with your new car.

Many thks in advance.

When I collected my ride, my SE told me never to set temperature above 22 degrees. Cannot remember the exact reasoning but something like some component will harden if set above that temperature. It was set to 18 but I adjusted it to 21 degrees. I must admit that 21 degrees doesn't really feel as cold as it should be. I ever took a ride on my colleague's BMW 3-series. Similarly he set to 21 degrees and it doesn't feel as cold.

Didn't really notice anything about the fluctuating coldness. Will observe again closely tomorrow when I am on my way to office.

By default, the air-con is not set to auto mode. Did you try putting it to auto (no fan speed display in the centre console and auto button will light up) and see if it helps? Lately, I do notice that there is a pungent smell coming from the air-con during the initial startup. After a couple of seconds, the odour goes away.

Kia K5 are more like a conti, not surprise air-conditioning also like conti need to set lower. My German ride I need to set 21deg and below before it is cold enough. There is nothing wrong with the air-con.

My previous Toyota I set to 24deg already very cold.

Have not set it to auto mode, will probably try and see how it goes.

I am actually fine with setting it at a lower temp but my main gripe is that the coldness will fluctuates I.e the cabin will feel stuffy all of a sudden (on manual mode). My wife n kids have been noticing that too.

I got a K3,no need to set too cold,23 on driver's side,25 on the Pax side,is enough, but set it to "Auto" for blower, this will helps to goes & maintain the temp set correctly.

Hello all current K5 owners,

Getting my ride, 2.0L within 1 month time..

Like to know:-

a) Rikecool Premium 28 good? need to upgrade? or go for Vikool??

b) Is the stock paint protection good enough? Should I go for CS2 TPP?

c) Need Tuff-Kote?

Any other advise to "improve" :)

Thanks in advance.

My thoughts as follows:

a. Premium 28 works pretty well for me. I see Audi is also using Rikecool. Perhaps better quality ones like Platinum 50. ($950 vs $1600).

b. I was also on the lookout for this but decided to go for paint protection after 4 months as I believe new car should come with a protective layer of lacquer. However, there is another school of thought which advocates doing it immediately upon collection. Reason being protection against oxidation and corrosion, acidic rains, bird droppings stains and other contaminants before it sets into the new paintwork.

c. Tuff-kote mainly for rust proofing, right? I don't see many people going for this option. My layman view is rust will only occur if there is a deep enough scratch which penetrates the paint works and galvanized steel.

Anyone notices that the air intake is substantially blocked by the bonnet of the car when closed?

Bro GLZT,

this shouldn't really be a "problem"...? Does your K5 (if you own one already) choke? surely the AI capacity must have been worked into the overall design? most cars have similar layout.

if it bothers and your ride needs to "breathe easier".., go check out with Harmony Motor.

A bro K5 owner did an "LTA approved" ramp air intake mod which supposedly did wonders (at higher revs but lose some at low-end), and sounded great! His was one of the "original batch" 2L.

If you are seriously concerned/interested, check out the old posts on SG KIA, do some research and pursue... There must surely be other workshops which can do similar or better.

Enjoy your K5! Great car for the $$.

I'm driving one of the pre face-lifted K5 but using the newer cvvl aluminium block engine.

I dont feel any choking or anything. Just wandering about wad the rest feel about it. What does the ramp air intake that you mentioned do?

Is it just like cutting a hole somewhere and directing the intake to the surface like cai?

Car Mfg purposely did that..so that low end torque is better...esp cars with Autobox..

Hi guys, just to share on the latest development on the above aircon issue. My car was sent to Pandan C&C last week and 'stayed' there for a week in a bid to resolve the issue. The service manager and technical adviser went on a test drive with me to simulate the problem and managed to detect the change in the temperature......a fluctuation of 7-8 deg was measured with the aircon set at 22 deg.

They have ruled out mechanical faults and pin-pointed it to software issue and I was like....huh, software??? However they are unsure and thus wrote to the manufacturer seeking for advise but no response from them till date. As I do not wish to leave my car there any longer, I collected my car back today while waiting for a reply from Kia. To top things off......the interior got scratch marks near the aircon controls!

Guess things have not been smooth since getting the new car....haha!

Did they provide you a courtesy car while your car was at their workshop during that one week period?
