Just for your reference.

100% city driving with 20% highway max.

S40 2.4 gave me 10km per liter

525i gave me 9km per liter

630i gave me 6.5km per liter

CLS350 gave me 6.5km per liter

911 C2 giving me 5.8km per liter

All else equal, capacity go up, FC got to expect increase.

So for 2.5liter car, you got to expect about 10km per liter consumption.

If Fc is an issue , dont go CatB

Hi throttle2, good info for reference. Understand cat b means fc must go down a bit. But it's not even close to 10km/l at the moment. Will give it some more time before determining the more accurate fc. But 7.5 to 8.5 km/l for k5 don't u think low?

Yes,7.5-8.5km/L is low, maybe your bad driving habits like waiting for people for 5-10 mins with engine on.?Heavy footed.?Tires pressure not enough.?Finally, change the oil to a 'Thinner grade",i using 0w-20 for my K3,the smoothness & economy is MUCH better than the Shell oil used by C&C..

I'm a light footer. I don't spend time on idling the engine cos it wastes fuel. Tire pressure 240 I ensured so that tyre pressure is not a factor. Engine oil? Will think about that. Thanks got suggestion.

Bro, I think city driving getting 7.5-8km/litre is perfectly fine. Don't worry about it. The k5 is not using an advance technology like the sky active from Mazda.

I heard many Hyundai matrix getting 9km/litre. Now that's a little ridiculous.

My SIL used to get 7-8km/l... But Matrix is from a decade ago

I've been driving my K5 to coming to a year now.

Can average around 11km/L.

If a bit spirited, will drop to 10plus km/L.

I would say around 50% city 50% expressway.

The amount of distance spent on a relatively jam-free expressway is very impt, I notice I can get about 9.5km/litre from 8km/litre with increasing 15% increase on highway usage from the usual 10%.

Yes, same to me when I was working in Jurong. Now work in town, thus no highway as I stay in town.

I've recently noticed some squeaky sound when my K5 crosses humps, especially higher humps and if my speed is slightly above 20km/h.

Anyone experiencing this issue?

Plus, do you guys have weird sounds coming from your brakes when you depress it? I do get quite a bit of sound especially if I don't fully depress the brakes. They are like knocking sounds.

It happened to my previous ride too. Just not sure is it normal or does my brake have problems too.

"squeaky" sound. That's probably just the springs. Itusually happens after you've picked up some road grit and it stays stuck on the springs. Or you may want check your wheel and suspension alignment to see if any parts are rubbing against each other when they shouldn't.

brakes. sounds like you have a (or more) rotors that have worn unevenly.. If so, and if your rotor is still decent, they can just machine it a bit to restore.

I thought the brake sound applies to all other cars.

I dunno, coz my last ride had this sound as well. Can't remember whether my first ride had this problem though.

The sound usually comes when I slowly release the brake as I prepare to move off. There will be thudding sound like something is knocking until I fully depress the brake or let go totally.

Is this normal?

I hope the mechanics at C&C can find the problem. Actually, I hope they will even do something for the issue.

Past experiences tell me that they will just brush me off and tell me it's like that, or they cannot find the problem. [smash]

For Brake part thats normal, thw squeaky sound was caused by dirts in the brake disc. Normal one

And for crossing hump sound, i think its the spring problem
