Twincharged

I drove K5 2.4L for a year, FC is around 9.9-10.1L with ESSO 98, 50% CTE.

I like the performance and handling but the 18" 225/45 tyre sound noisy compare to Camry. I can hear the 'roughness' of the road.

Is that what you experience as well?

I am thinking of changing to Hankook S1 noble 2 low noise higher profile (225/50). Any comment on this tyre?

225/50-18 is too big & heavy for the car,it may rub the inside wheel arch,FC also will goes up.

I agreed. I just try to give a 'description' of quietness.

Any recommendation of quiet tyre tested on K5?

Try Bridgestone Turanza GR-100,well known for its quietness & comfort.

DO NOT and I mean do not change the aspect ratio as you wish.

Your traction control, ABS, VSC and your speedometer readout will all go haywire as the circumference of the tire is bigger than stock.

And since the Optima feature stance is quite body hugging, unlike Toyota who likes to build cars that looks like its on stilts. You may hit the fenders at full steering lock.

What u need is quieter tires. Koreans tires tech still needs some catchup I must say.

Try Toyo Proxes C1S, Goodyear EfficentGrip, Bridgestone GR100 (way overpriced though)

Toyo is my favorite for its still made in Japan. Goodyears are either made in China or Bulgaria. GR100 made in Thailand

I am using GY EfficientGrip Performance , 225/40/18, made in Germany. My 2nd set. Tyre is very quiet even till above 40k km. BTW, my car is not K5.

That's good. I was one of the early adopters of EfficentGrip. Back then there was only one model with no such things as 'Performance' It was made in China. The thread pattern design was slightly different from today's new EfficenGrip.

Not much problems with the tires except the wear rate was much shorter than I'd like. And being an early adopter, I was kenna chop carrot head big time [bigcry]

Avoid Yokohama DB series..... unless you like drifting in your Optima [thumbsup][laugh] Yokohama tires tends to dry out and harden prematurely in our hot climate.

The Toyo C1S is my favourite till date... As quiet as the DB, but offers much better grip, esp in the wet

Turbocharged

2016 Kia K5 brochure. Hope the english version comes out soon

Looks like there are gonna be lots of features packed in the car.

https://m.facebook.com/kia.co.kr

Looks like there is autonomous collision avoidance (automatic braking), 2.0petrol, 1.7L CRDi, a new 1.6L turbo GDi and a 2.0L turbo GDi (not new). New features for the electric memory seats, a wireless charging pad, connected app to control the car remotely via your phone, and a new active noise cancellation system (Honda Accord has this too).

No, but Bolehland got the base 2L Optima only. The 2.4L we have is quieter (engine don't need to rev like shit to move the car along)

But it doesn't matter already. It is the next gen Optima that Kia wants to show off to you what they can do.

Rear comfort is ok. Unless you are a very big size adult, it's actually alright. The leg room space is quite good and 3 people can sit at the rear comfortably.

So far gearbox for the 2.0L is alright and its revvs decently

I am most likely getting a 2.0L K5 by end August. Just checking with those who have used the navigation system for Singapore and Malaysia roads, any issues so far? And is it possible to update the system/maps on your own?

no la. i have done it many times with ex RX8. keep all 4 wheels the same and it does not detect a difference. it is detecting the differences in the wheel speed and not the absolute value.

Looks new to me, the seller is AD. Not sure what kind of marketing stunt they are pulling by posting in the used car section. Feels like PI move.
