I am looking to buy a new tv to replace my CRT (yes, i am still using a CRT!! [:p] )

eyeing for the Samsung LED but the sales guy keep recommending plasma from Panasonic. look at both the LED and Plasma side by side, i do agree that plasma do have better resolution in all viewing angles. my main concern is, if i get the plasma, am i buying an out dating technology TV?

can anyone give me some advice?

thanks.

I own a plasma n a LED tv... Both samsung, both in perfect working order.

In terms of color representation, the plasma delivers a much more intense color reproduction. So your eyes did not betray you. Neither did the salesman try to pull a fast one.

But not sure if the salesman tell u that:

1) plasma runs damm hot which prob is an indication of high energy consumption.

2) suffers fm burn-in although the new models come with added feature to erase the burn-in effect.

3) Glare.... So depending on where u intend to place your tv vis-a-vis your windows, u might find it impossible to watch tv during the day w/o drawing the curtains.

4) HD source. Frankly if u r watching a HD source like blu-ray discs or HD TV, the image quality u get fm your LED does match up with what the plasma can offer.

So if u ask me, go for the LED if u haven't own a plasma before.

plasma tends to be hotter than lcd or led

it consume higher power compare to lcd and led

to me, aiyah plasma give better contrast when viewing normal movies/tv

but sharpness and tone of lcd and led when showing cartoons like cars/the incredibles/monster inc is superb

anyway

if money is your concern go plasma lah

less than 1k for 42' is a good steal

btw i'm using plasma lg with hdd and usb built in for 3 years already

a little hint if you want to buy from best dengki

the price display is not always the final price

you can get it lower

happen to me last time when i want to buy new tv

when to katong audio shop

the guy push panasonic to me

as its the cheapest i buy

then went to parkway parade best dengki

saw the current model i'm using (lg)

the price tag was 2000+

but the sales man told me if i'm interested he will give me special price of 1700

immediately i call up the previous shop to cancel my panasonic

and i explain to him

in the end that shop no choice got to match the price offer by best dengki and offer the same model

On 2nd thoughts, go for the cheapest Plasma u can find n by the time it conk off, price of LED will have fallen more. Only problem is after watching plasma, u will get very unfulfilled watching LED tv. Which was why I said in my earlier reply to u to get the LED if u hadn't own a plasma before. [:p]

FYI, price of my plasma is about 1/3 of my LED TV.
