Speeddemon Neutral Newbie July 7, 2010 Share July 7, 2010 To all the bros who are currently driving the Superb Ambition model with the Bolero headunit.....Anyone interested in upgrading to a Columbus set? I will be upgrading mine soon and my contact says there are two other sets available. Features of the Columbus as compared to Bolero as follows: -Plays DVD -Possible av input (good for those who are interested in adding in a digital tv tuner) -20gb harddisk (aactually i think its 30gb but 10gb is reserved for maps) -In-built GPS It does not have the 6-disc in built CD changer nor does it play SDHC cards which means it can only read SD cards up to 2gb capacity.....but the in built harddisk more then makes up for it. Note however that the sets are used but the condition is almost 99%. Total cost including installation will be approx SGD$1500. Anyone interested? ↡ Advertisement

Anyone interested? if it's columbus, then it should be able to take SD card of higher capacity. For av input, need another add on adaptor for output. the back of columbus doesn't have have any output. good to get video in motion if you are heavy user of the dvd. Upzz for u. Speeddemon Neutral Newbie July 7, 2010 Author Share July 7, 2010 Update on the features -Plays DVD -Possible av input but must add additional adaptor (good for those who are interested in adding in a digital tv tuner) -20gb harddisk (aactually i think its 30gb but 10gb is reserved for maps) -In-built GPS -SD card slot (SDHC probably only for the newer versions of Columbus? The ones I am getting may be the older versions since they are used sets) -Video in motion adaptor also available at additional cost. Its to allow video display when the car is moving since it is set to black out by default once the car is in motion

Simplyclever Neutral Newbie July 9, 2010 Share July 9, 2010 Hi guys, the video available vhen driving is possible only by reprogramming the unit itself, any adapter will make the GPS and other functions faulty as it filtering the speed data out from the CAN bus system. If someone interested to improve the features of columbus or VW RNS 510 then ask me, all available. Remaping the newest ECU MED17.5 is available as well, not any powerbox or as offered often but real reprogramming by profesional map from Germany or UK. No any counter in the ECU, imposible to read out if the ECU was flashed. Any questions?

Simplyclever Neutral Newbie July 10, 2010 Share July 10, 2010 The RNS510 reprogramming is just software unlock and it is done by the same way as factory sets the features and make it as Columbus for Skoda or RNS 510 for VW, you can have your favorite wallpaper and starting screen picture, the buttons can look different and couple more interesting features. The price is 300. Engine ECU tuning is around 1000 and it depends individualy. Now is it 800 for a short time. There is only way how to remape the new ECU on Skoda and VW and it is to remove the ECU out and make it on the table. It is a job for whole day and I think there is not easy to find someone in Singapore who is able to do it now. OBD is imposible because there is "anti tuning lock" from factory. Any questions or Ideas? share with me.

So have you done any Superb2s yet and what the gains (bhp & torque) are we looking at if pushed engine and tranny to safe limits. Your style of mapping - linear or aggressive? Pls share for the sake of the rest here, I know there are a lot of bros here sitting by the sidelines resisting the urge of poison, hehe.....
Simplyclever Neutral Newbie July 13, 2010 Share July 13, 2010 Hi Koken, as I come from dealers and factory background, I prefer the "safe tuning" which is in the limits to keep the car going and not just over boost it and then after half year of "happy" power performance driving find the engine or gearbox worn out and spend lots of money to fix it. But it does not mean I am not able to tune the engine up to limit or little beyond but that I will do only for someone who knows, for experienced customer. So what kind of gains can I look forward to after tuning (Superb2)? I would be more interested to optimize performance within safe technological limit. MTM set the benchmark for after tune around 160bhp -> 205bhp, 250Nm -> 300Nm (if I recall correctly) on Passat CC (I think no Superb 2 tried it yet). Is this "safe tuning" in your opinion? Simplyclever Neutral Newbie July 13, 2010 Share July 13, 2010 I do not think so anyone else has done tuning on latest 1.8 TFSI models 2010 with MED 17.5.5 which is locked unit. The MTM is very high and there is question how did they measure it as it is nice to write numbers which looks nice but is it true? Only Dyno test before and after remapping can show the real difference. I prefer not such high changes as the engine is overloaded. But with experience driver who knows as the fuel consumption will be much higher, why not:) ↡ Advertisement
