Within weeks, smart scholars and CEOs make some of the most intolerable remarks as follows;

1) We cannot prevent floods

2) Crowded MRT during peak hours, sinkies ask for it

3) Obese people should not hold important appointments

What the pea size country coming to? Pushing all faults back to sinkies?

I find that some of the speeches are damn arrogant, like those Borneo SE during the G9 corolla days.

Walau, who said that, ah? What context? If someone important felt that way, it's all over for me. [laugh]

as much as these are uncomforting words, i had rather have leaders who are practical, realitic and be frank to the people, than having populist politicians who sugar coat their speeches.

lets be practical, there indeed is no way to prevent 100% flood in any country, even if you are to become the PM, I doubt you can. there are too many uncertainties and constraints in managing a country. if you own a home, you cannot guarantee things wont go wrong. complain about the trafffic jams on our express way, and you expect them to widen them indefinately ? and add more tracks and cabins to the mrt ? then when land space is used up , less land is available for housing, and price of housing goes up, and you will complain about it as well. so ? forever complain. haiz..

Even in japan it is also the same. unless you want to triple the capacity of mrt system, the tracks, the cabins and everything. then what about the cost incurred ? and what about the land space ? and dont complain about road traffic jam then.

obese people should not hold important appointment. well, i dont know about this, but i suspect you are not reading into the right context of it.

you see, it's too easy to complain about anything and everything, but it take sensibility to see the whole picture and have an understanding of the greater good and lesser evil behind policies.

it was saying if an obese person cannot even manage himself/herself, then how can he/she manage a company...

There are genetic factors to obesity (in addition to the obvious environmental ones). This has been conclusively proven. So, to discriminate blindly against obese people is almost as bad as discriminating blindly against the, well, blind.

Why are you depriving them a chance to try? You can tell the future?
