take mitsubishi L200 for eg, single cab pick up is 56k. double cab is nearly 86k.

same goes for every other model, ssangyong actyon etc.

where does the extra money go, some kind of tax?

yes. seriously. it's the next best thing to a diesel-powered private car, because unlike normal 2/3 seater van/pickup, u have 3 extra proper seats with seatbelts to carry passengers. and LTA doesn't want this to be abused by people trying to save on petrol tax.

ya i understand the deterrence part. but officially, what kind of tax would it be?

can't be customs just decide omv should be ultra high?

The double-cab price is higher, and the road-tax is also higher becos include "diesel passenger tax".

Otherwise, it would be more affordable for me to buy one becos of certain advantages : diesel, turbo, 5pax, cargo deck, 4WD.

Those private cars with diesel engines also have to pay higher road-tax becos include "special diesel tax".
