Mini-itx Clutched June 27, 2010 Share June 27, 2010 Recently bought a 2nd hand Mallory ignition coil from another MCFer for $50. http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?autoco...mp;product=5505 Good stuff.... My low end performance improved by quite a margin. Previously, my car will feel very sluggish @ 40KM/H on 4th gear. Now no problem. I can shift earlier now. Why waste $$$ on all those expensive VS stuff when a cheap coil will be able to do the same? ↡ Advertisement
Watwheels Supersonic June 27, 2010 Share June 27, 2010 This depends on the age/mileage of your car. Changing to a new coil from an old and worn out one of course will give an impression that performance had been enhanced. Btw not all type of cars use a single core type ignition coil like yours. My car's engine has individual ignition coils for each spark plug.

A more powerful coil will allow you to have a wider spark gap. Hence, more power.
