Ckchong8 1st Gear November 23, 2010 Share November 23, 2010 "with 1 yr of personal free insurance???" Can u pls elaborate? When purchase the battery need to register for the insurance on top of the usual battery warranty, can't remember the amount. A month later they will post you the insurance card and the doc about the coverage.Have thrown away the doc. after the expire date.
Octopus 3rd Gear November 23, 2010 Share November 23, 2010 Ah = amp hour. Higher of course better but more costly. You can go to this website for more info Battery rating or google for more info. Little bit higher than stock is ok, but if exceeded the capacity of alternator, might end up with an under-charge battery.
Nokiaseng Neutral Newbie December 6, 2010 Share December 6, 2010 AH=Am per hour...definitely higher abit better. It also depends on the CCA- (the amount of current a battery can provide at
Duk33d Neutral Newbie December 15, 2010 Share December 15, 2010 Little bit higher than stock is ok, but if exceeded the capacity of alternator, might end up with an under-charge battery. Quite impossible, it jus means your alternator will work less often. First time charge might be longer than usual, after your battery hits 100% eventually because you keep driving, the battery will lose less charges as a percentage of its maximum capacity. Due to lesser deep cycle dis-charges, the overcapacity battery should last longer. :) In fact, my diesel vw caddy van starts immediately, no need wait for glow plug also starts, overcapacity by 20 or 30 amp h. In my honda city, also works well.

Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear December 17, 2010 Share December 17, 2010 after my last 2 maintenance free batteries died suddenly....i switched back to maintenance batteries....its a lot cheaper!!! S$75! Maintenance-free batteries are really short service life batteries. The electrolyte in the battery do spill/vaporise away with usage (especially driving over speed humps). There is no way to top up the lost electrolyte. So these batteries have very limited service life-span. Do not expect a good deal if the shop only got maintenance-free batteries for sale. Go to the next shop that has got maintainable batteries for sale. Maintenance-free batteries usually last 1 to 3 years. My dad used to have maintainable batteries that last 6 to 10 years (just top up if the electrolyte level is low)
Weesern Clutched December 19, 2010 Share December 19, 2010 how often do we need to check/top the water?
Yeobh 4th Gear December 19, 2010 Share December 19, 2010 Check once a week, top up as when battery water drop below the min level.
Weesern Clutched December 19, 2010 Share December 19, 2010 problem is cannot see the min level line, coz it is not facing outside... so only way to check using the min level line is to take out the battery...
Yeobh 4th Gear December 19, 2010 Share December 19, 2010 You have to remove the cell cap, use a torch if necessary. If you cannot see the min level indicator marking, the rule of thumb is to make sure the battery water is above the battery plates. Do not over fill, as the battery charge up ( heat up) the battery water will overflow.
