Acemundo Supercharged June 25, 2010 Share June 25, 2010 Hi all, I am claiming third party. The workshop I am using ask me to select an equivalent CC car for replacement car rental and submit the bill for them to claim. I like to get some opinion from brothers here, especially those experience in claims one on: 1) my car under repair is Saab 9-3. do you think there is a limit on the absolute amount of car rental or brands I can rent? hee, hoping to try interesting models 2) in the past workshop settle car rental for me, but this time round, this workshop seems to be less experienced and ask me to source my own car rental. but if i pay the car rental, they claim under their name and it becomes their income then how? or as long as car rental invoice shows my name, insurer will have to pay to me? 3) any car rental company with more interesting brands of cars (not those that offers standard range like toyota camry etc) to recommend? ↡ Advertisement

Sci10213 3rd Gear June 27, 2010 Share June 27, 2010 For Third Party Property Damage claims, insurers follow a guideline called NIMA protocol and there is this table showing the benchmark for rental claims. E.g. if your car is: <1800cc, from $50 to $60/day > 1800cc, from $120 to $180/day luxury car from $200 onwards So if your car is of 1600cc, they only pay u $60/day (maximum). Anything more is your own problem.

Seaweed 1st Gear June 27, 2010 Share June 27, 2010 i think the best guage would be to based on the sales price of the car...For example if a brand new 9-3 cost SGD120k..You would be fine renting a car which selling price is of equivalent....it would then be easily justified... About six or seven years ago...I did a third party claim before...I rented a toyota corolla...it was like SGD70 to SGD80 per day...after everything was completed....I just passed the receipt to the repairer and they submit everything together....insurance send me a cheque...done....but i did chase the insurance company a little with a threat of letter of demand... Acemundo Supercharged June 28, 2010 Author Share June 28, 2010 oh so it can be refunded directly to you. my issue is i am named driver under the insurance. but the car is registered under wife's name. in this case, the car rental receipt should be in who's name? my name or her? Mcf777 Turbocharged June 28, 2010 Share June 28, 2010 (edited) it's best to let the workshop arrange the car rental for you. in that way, the rental payment will be pay by them. it is much more safer this way rather than u paying upfront cash to the car rental company my accident case 7yrs ago, i rented a toyota soluna thru the workshop. They claim S$220 per day thru the insurance co. Edited June 28, 2010 by Mcf777

About 8 years ago, my Civic was damaged and the workshop arrange Mazda Astima for replacement.
Seaweed 1st Gear June 29, 2010 Share June 29, 2010 i think putting your wife name is more logically since the is the register owner....but do check it out as I am not sure on this part...

Just returned the car last Sat while my car was being re-sprayed. The condition of the car is ok but I cannot tahan the cig smell lingered in the car. It stinks.
