23-year-old impersonates friend to help him with IPPT

SINGAPORE: Two men with the same surname and both thought they could mutually benefit if one impersonated the other.

 

Goh TingFu, 23, a student at the Asia Pacific School of Sports and Business, met up with polytechnic student Goh Li Zhao outside Bedok Camp at 4pm on March 9.

 

Both men went into the camp and Mr Goh Li Zhao went to take the number tag for his Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT).

 

After taking the number tag, he gave his number tag to Goh TingFu and waited at the stadium grandstand for the latter to take the IPPT for him.

 

It is not known if he paid his friend to take the test.

 

After Goh TingFu completed the test, a fitness specialist with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) checked the IPPT results and discovered that he had helped Mr Goh Li Zhao take it.

 

A military policeman with the SAF was informed and the matter was reported to the police.

 

Goh TingFu pleaded guilty on Thursday to falsely representing himself as the other.

 

Goh and told the court that he was sorry for what he had done.

 

He was fined S$2,000 and could be jailed up to three years.

 

The SAF is looking into how to deal with Mr Goh Li Zhao. - CNA/vm

My last reservist unit also got 2 guys tried the same stunt during in-camp IPPT.

In fact, when i was still in reservist, we always ask if we can pay $200 to forego the test.....instead of trying to earn the $$$ ha ha

There was a valid comment on the article, i.e. why was the private school openly named, but the polytechnic kept anonymous??

 

I've seen this to be quite the norm whenever there's any bad news relating to public educational institutions, and only when the name finally leaks out (i.e. cannot cover any more) will the newspapers mention it. Lack of transparency?

I this the two guy want to cheat but not steady enough!

i think quite common la ippt cheating. i know of someone, no need pay him. he steady so fit surely get gold one for you, $$$ he keep la. do ippt a few extra times a year, quite worth it if u are fit.
