Well, it's either Android, iPhone or bust.

I've had bad experience with Sony Ericsson, so I won't recommend that.

I'd say Android. It supports, what, flash and Javascript? Allows you to see more websites properly. More powerful, allows you to multitask and pretty good responsiveness.

But iPhone has better apps available....unless you want to go 4G, that's about it.

Neutral Newbie

As you admit you are not tech savvy, its better for you to buy iPhone because when it comes to user experience, apple is the best, me myself using HTC anroid phone.

You may need to change your plan to include some data bundle, else your internet charges will be expensive.

I think you mean more apps, rather than better? :D

i recommend you to stick to your current phone and buy ipad

reason:

super big screen. surf net, watch video song song [thumbsup]

if you subscribe to starhub, they have 6M home braodband, 1M tonger for mobile surfing and free home line = $39.

you get the 1m tonger, take out the 3g sim card inside, cut it and put inside ipad, viola, you are ready to surf net like siao [thumbsup] and at a cheap rate too [thumbsup]

Forget about ipone if your purpose is to suf nets. it doesn't support flash. Ipad dont support flash too.

The best option is get a phone that can do tetering and buy a laptop. you can do everything on it including playing PC games.

thanks for the great pointer, it really been helpful.

i didn't know xperia so bad, i tried it on the last pc show. kinda like it as it has big screen, other than that, i don't really know how to operate it.

it seems iphone really a hit among you guys, for me, i like iphone due to one of their app, checking of custom traffic as i go jb rather often.

with that, i can plan my time.

but mind me asking..

what is tonger?

flash - refer to flash card, aka the memory card?

android, which is the recommended android phone (android is the o/s rite)?

tonger? I've no idea what that is. Dongle, perhaps?

flash == Standard format of embedding....aw, screw it. It's just the fancy crap you see on certain sites. If something is interactive, you can click and highlight and fancy drop downs, that's flash.

Android phones? Right now it's pretty much HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy S

did anyone ever try buying phone from the states?

i saw iphone 3GS going for another USD$400, unlocked and jailed.

may i ask what do they mean by unlocked?

and will there be any concern if using locally?

If my understanding is correct, unlocked means the phone could be used with SIM card from any telco. In the US, previously the iPhone were sold exclusively by a particular telco with their plans and it could not work even if you inset the SIM card of another telco. I wonder if the situation is still the same over there.

Probably have to buy from outside market as my existing plan with the provider, only exceed a year.

Just for info, if I go for iphone or renewal of plans, top up $200 + phone price.

Middle plan holder..

If you are using Starhub mobile, broadband & TV [3 services], you are allowed annual handset upgrade.
