Netbellytelly Neutral Newbie October 20, 2010 Share October 20, 2010 Hi all I am writing to share my experience kena fine by LTA for not buying eLicence. I was caught without a licence once in June and twice in July this year. The ones in July was for two consecutive days. To cut long story short, I went online to research how much i will be fined, how long it takes, etc. From what I read in this forum, I was expecting to be fined at least 10k. I just got the official fine this week. For all three occassions, LTA fined me $500 EACH (so total $1.5k) which I paid immediately. If there are any LTA officers reading this, I just wana say how grateful and relieved I am of the outcome of this matter. The months of waiting is over and the fine is comparatively lower than what I had anticipated. Just wondering if any of you have gone through or heard of a similar experience....... ↡ Advertisement

Wavedancer Neutral Newbie October 20, 2010 Share October 20, 2010 I have nothing against OPC cars but I drive a normal car due to work. I have colleagues who drive OPC cars and I envy them because the savings that they enjoy is quite substantial considering that they do not need to drive during 'peak hours'. They told me the present system it is not a hassle. They just need to cultivate a habit. Once they get into their cars, they will SMS the payment for the day licence, same as us switching on the radio, wearing seat belt checking mirrors etc. Similar to the coupon days when they need to tear coupons first. They have a record of their purchase for that day, their mobile phone bill in case of fine. No records? Same as coupons, you need to remember or record the days that you drove but forgot to pay or tear coupons. I think LTA is being lenient for time being, fine of $500 compare to the old days of coupons. Previously I had spotted quite a number of OPC cars without coupons during peak hours especially on small roads where chances of being caught is low, trying to cheat the system. To these people, do not complain if you are caught. To those who really forget, the fines would be painful reminder to be more careful and I sympathise with you. Cheenang Neutral Newbie October 25, 2010 Share October 25, 2010 U got a problem here...??? I had colleagues driving "normal Car" who come up to me and said, "you know what, you really made the right choice to buy an OPC, I should have done the same, pay so much and now my car just sitting in the carpark because driving to town to work is such a hassle." Anyway I thtink the term "Normal Car" is playing with people's mind, meaning anything else is "abnormal" car.........

I agree with you, there are people who cheat and there are some who genuinely forget. I saw another thread which discussed about people knowingly not tearing any parking coupon and then complained when kenna fine, the response is not as "passionate" as this thread....... Zech Neutral Newbie October 25, 2010 Share October 25, 2010 Whatever reason we give like forget, overlook, system down, watever valid reason, still have to pay $500 min. So the cost for the excuse is $500 after appeal. Forgot... you pay $500.. then you remember.... Still forget.. then either double or $5k high court. Princess3381 Neutral Newbie October 25, 2010 Share October 25, 2010 How long does it take for them to send the letter? Is there a way to check online or something like that whether u kennah fine anot? I just realized i forgot to pay for last friday's e day license. really no chance to appeal ar? it depends on who the officer in charge of your case is. It can range from a few days to weeks before you receive the letter if you are spotted. There isn't anyway that you can check if you are spotted. But if you pass by 1) An ERP Gantry ; 2) entered a EPS carpark most likely u are going to kena. But if you never kena, don't ever go and surrender. my 2 cents of worth. Anyway I thtink the term "Normal Car" is playing with people's mind, meaning anything else is "abnormal" car......... driving to work is ok if you can afford a parking space... but yes i do envy cars of "normal" plate as they can go as and when they want... but to think again... everyday cost of just driving it to work sickens me... thats why i got it "opc"... maybe next time try finding jobs at tuas or ulu area just to avoid rush hour traffic in town.
