Their experience count but honest or not is 1 time only n u never go back. Some will drive 1 round to see yr car have any problem, I see many owner just leave their car there. If you have the time just stand there n watch, normal service is fast if no queue, n if thing need to change they can show u on the spot. N u can get poison by fellows there whether is machanic or other car owner. [laugh]

I concur and that is partly why I will usually be around the car during servicing. [laugh]

Neutral Newbie

Hey, guys. Just got my servicing done last week. The battery died today. :/

My workshop claims it's very difficult to test the battery and so it's not their fault. Is anybody here able to give me an educated second opinion?

Battery can only be correctly tested using a power amp meter which most workshops don't have and even AD and Battery specialist workshop may not use them to test as it's an extra step which is not really a must or should do during servicing.

There are tell tale signs of imminent battery failures which workshops and you can look out for. Here's 4 of them and you can get more details on our weekly write-up here.

1) Bloated Battery

2) White/blue powder forming at battery

3) Weak cranking during starting in the morning (or cold weather)

4) Time norm (In Singapore, using normal scaled battery, expect your battery to last 2-3 years for private cars and 1-2 years for commercial vehicles. Of cos it also depends on the type brand and AH of the battery. Most importantly, the driver again...)
