my humble 2 cents, I have both but micoach pacer not really used yet:

no frills: go with polar since you only wana do monitoring

frills, audio coaching: micoach (sorta tell you to slow down etc to hit your targeted zone)

non of the above. Go for Garmin. Forerunner 50. Got it from ebay and its cheaper than local by 20-30%. Comes with HRM and footpod.

Does polar tells you how fast or slow to go?

polar depending on model can tell u which zone you are in..like 80% of max heart rate etc..so if you are below that and that's your target, you can speed up? is that what you are asking?

if you want a female voice asking you to speed up, then micoach

I see. So polar is using vision to gauge the pace. micoach is using voice to tell you the pace.

If you have used polar before, is the heartbeat monitoring accurate in your opinion?

yeah, basically you read it off the polar watch..periodically you can bring it close to the heart beat monitor for night light etc..

accuracy of the heartbeat monitoring of course cannot be accurate to the beat since when you are running you are looking at a percentage of the max heart beat that you yourself program in (via calibration such as VOMax, age, weight etc, must go read manual)..if you don't do it as mentioned in manual might get some inaccuracies.. such as 110% of max heart rate which probably is way wrong

but I think the watch does give a good gauge of the zone you are targetting if done properly
