Actually I don't understand why you need to go durian farm to buy cheap and good durian

Since I am familiar with some of the lobang and shopping in JB, let me suggest a place that you can go. I usually go and buy durian at Kip Mart Tampoi. The place may not be familiar with many Singaporean, that why it is good. Cheap and good. Not many Singaporean cars, mostly Msian. It is opposite Angsana shopping centre, on the way to Sutera Mall. There is about 7-8 seller selling durian. Take your pick and bargain.

There you can buy durian 3-4 for RM10. Bought RM20 ($8.70), got seven durian medium size. All the kampong durian was good. Give half to my neighbour.

Same with Satay. If u want to go buy Satay the BEST in JB is Satay Warisan Wak Radol it is near Kempas. If you want direction PM me. Dont want to spoilt the place with tooo many Singaporean.

Of course I can choose to buy in Singapore, save the petrol and tolls. But its the experience and joy of going with your friends and family in this sense that made us go all the way up to the plantation which cant be measured with $$ [laugh]

Anyway, thanks for the recommendation.

I agree with Bro Enzomatrix... [:)]

I also agree.

The drive [slow or fast] is the enjoyable part of the trip.

The vast greenery, the early morning fog/mist, the roar of chiongsters passing, can't find words to describe.

Of cos, every individuals have the own way of enjoyment.

Cheers !!

Greeting everyone,

I do not have any experience planning for group drive-up, and therefore took quite a while to finalize anything.

Many apologies.

Change plan and like to try another durian farm "Sim Koa Yen" in Malacca.

Just made a call from Genting, spoken to the Mr Yap.

Our intended date 18/7 not a good durian harvest, best is 27/6 or 4/7.

* no minimum pax, must call in advance.

* for small group, no need to pay 30% deposit, based on mutual trust.

Very tempted [craze for durians] to go for 27/6, but abit too rush for everyone.

So going on 4/7/2010.

Bro,

IMO, Melaka is too far. If it is your first time out for durian, then should pick a nearer place, eg Pekan Nenas. Driving towards to Melaka is OK but the return is going to be painful when your stomach is full of durian. Remember it is 3 hours drive at 110km/h to Johor Immigration. If you factor in the potential jam at Singapore Immigration and journey home, it will be another 1.5 hours.
