Throttle2 Supersonic June 7, 2010 Author Share June 7, 2010 (edited) wah... then your 6er leh? 6er, can sell mah..... anyway, just one of my rash thoughts Edited June 7, 2010 by Throttle2
Throttle2 Supersonic June 7, 2010 Author Share June 7, 2010 (edited) idea is to do up one nicely, engine, reupholster, suspension, rims, interior, etc..... it's a handsome spacious 2 door that will go a long way... my mistake, i think it's a E220 Cabrio, the 230CE comes only in coupe version. but dont mind 230CE too. especially if it comes with sunroof Edited June 7, 2010 by Throttle2
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 7, 2010 Share June 7, 2010 which year was the model you wanted again??? is that the model based on the W204??? that's really motoring and Mercedes-Benz at it's best.... very basic with no trick gadgets to confuse you on your drive.... ER-3682 Twincharged June 7, 2010 Share June 7, 2010 which year was the model you wanted again??? is that the model based on the W204??? that's really motoring and Mercedes-Benz at it's best.... very basic with no trick gadgets to confuse you on your drive.... This is based on W124,engine for the 230 is M102 & for 220 is M111.
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 7, 2010 Share June 7, 2010 even a more solid Mercedes the W124.... but isn't the interior a bit too snug for comfort???
Viceroymenthol 6th Gear June 8, 2010 Share June 8, 2010 even a more solid Mercedes the W124.... but isn't the interior a bit too snug for comfort??? snug? i dunno wtf you're talking about, cos the W124 was the E class... unless you're some big fat b------d, W124 should be roomy enough
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 8, 2010 Share June 8, 2010 no denying it's an E-Class, but compared that to the new W212.... the difference is really huge.... the W124 is probably the size of the current C-Class....
Comnao 1st Gear June 8, 2010 Share June 8, 2010 Throttle are you referring to that one in "tuff" city ? personally i think a W124 in cabrio is absolutely Yums. I had seen another one in NUS with mocca brown shade. full size W124 4seater with topless .. you cannot ask for more. the engine and body should not be too difficult to maintain, since the engine is shared and most body parts can be creamed off a sedan or coupe. HOWEVER, i do have concerns about the soft top roof. MB did not make that many units of this model to begin with, so spares will be a scarcity Even fewer people know how to repair the mechanism. the final one laughing is when the roof jams midway in the middle of a downpour. Yattokame 4th Gear June 8, 2010 Share June 8, 2010 the final one laughing is when the roof jams midway in the middle of a downpour. Umbrella. Just try not to drive too fast when the umbrella is opened.
Throttle2 Supersonic June 8, 2010 Author Share June 8, 2010 Actually this car has been on my radar for very long. a few years ago i saw it again (yes with brown seats and two tone paint) driven by a pretty tai tai in her forties along cairnhill/mt elizabeth the soft top is indeed a bit scary especially since model is already past 15 yrs... so maybe the 230CE or 300CE is less of a headache. but less of a headache also means less fun..... Problme is there arent many well cared for units in town.
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 8, 2010 Share June 8, 2010 should any of your W124 parts on the convertible version fail, just give Mercedes-Benz Centre a call (afterall they're the direct dealership for Singapore), let them know the parts you'll need for your car, Mercedes-Benz Deutschland still makes spare parts upon request.... in fact they still have a warehouse full of parts for W124 Mercedes-Benz.... as long as you have the money (which obviously you have, going by the ownership of your 6-Series), they'll be there to assist you.... happy motoring!!! Sdf5725 1st Gear June 8, 2010 Share June 8, 2010 there are quite a few good workshop with load of experience on W124. no matter what, you still need to overhaul engine and gearbox should you go for one.
Sdf5725 1st Gear June 8, 2010 Share June 8, 2010 the W124 is probably the size of the current C-Class.... W124 is still bigger than latest W204. although it is still smaller than W212 or even W211
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 8, 2010 Share June 8, 2010 as i've said, if you can't find any more spare parts here, just contact MB De....they have everything you'll ever need.... just give them the cash....
Throttle2 Supersonic June 9, 2010 Author Share June 9, 2010 if budget is not a concern, u could also consider the 129 model. More classy and elegant. I believe the 124 comes in few variant, 200/220/230/260/280/300. Early 124 comes without facelift, rear boot plate is not flushed. Not to worry, i should be able to get you spare parts or the whole engine. Ring me if you need parts 9362 3352 One good reason why i would go for the 124 is becos i want to use it as a family car so the 129 is definitely out. Anyway, after all this banter from me, it seems like I cant bear to part with my 6er just yet. where to find something so smooth, powerful, luxurious, sportingly handsome and yet well priced? I believe the E63 is destined to attain cult status just like its predecessor. However if the 6er should finally go, I will definitley be on the lookout for the 124 coupe/cab
