Well, if i have the budget...

I rather get a JDM Toyota Crown or Mark X.....

Both running 2.5 V6 6-spd suto engine....

[laugh]

and paid the high road tax?

the trend now is to buy the lower cc car with enough power

I guess your budget for maintenance will have to be solid..

haha my fren feels even if the 318 were to be able to match A4 or C180 in terms of performance but still there is no electric seats and no auto aircon, he won't buy also. in his words, he say it feels very cheapskate to buy a luxury car without such standard features..I long time never follow the price of the luxury market..not too sure what is the price difference between the A4 1.8T and the 318....if I'm not wrong, the A4 should be at least 10k more expensive than the 318. but still more worth it imo to pay if it is higher by about 10k...

318 rwd, that's the best selling point. car better balanced through the corners, less understeer. so i can forget about auto aircon and e.seats given such a good chassis. but if power low, also boring. 320 seems a decent buy, or at least can compete with A4 1.8T

the japz are late adoptor.... they usually have it after the EU people tried it..

of coz, the japz supporter can start throwing their things if they disagree

It sounds like C-class is the better choice, IF the price really is 130k....

Which luxury cars have air-con ventilated seats?

C180 CGI is currently selling at $154,888 net, with $4,000 overtrade. If no car to trade in, have to pay the net price. This advice was given by C&C SE last sat.

eh.. from a petrol head perspective, i tot it shd be inline6 or twin turbo?

strange that people always bash the entry level.. it was the same when there's only 320 and people argue till the cow come home to say it will have to be min 323..

with 318, the std drop to nothing less than 320?

In case u reply that it's only you but for general discussion, i notice that quite a number have change their tune as well.

Cheers [:)]

For petrol head, it is definitely IL-6 or turbo IL-6.

For 2L block, get a proper 2L block rather than a detuned 2L block. I have always praise BMW IL-4 juz looking at their WTCC results. What's the point of getting 318 other than the badge?

Well,i agree that the trend now is using lower CC as possible then add in turbo....

Fiat, VW, EU cars are doing it now......

seems like the in thing for BMW is to make low cc diesel engines....

the 316d makes the most sense with a 2.0L diesel engine (non-turbo) producing 116bhp@4,000rpm and 260Nm@1750rpm....

but it's only with a 6MT and does 0-100kph in 10.9s....

this is even more basic than the 318i....

this one then practical for Singapore....

I started with the E36 316i a long time ago...hahah

Good introduction to the badge and it went on to spawn 5 more bimmers among my family before I shifted over to the 3-pointed star recently - my CO was sian (or so she said) of the blue and white propellor...hahah

with low cc, it's not advisable to put AT coz you tend to have power lose to torque convertor.. thus MT

not that they don't want to put auto....

this whole car was meant to save fuel (diesel),

putting an auto, spoils the whole point of the car....

that's why i say i don't see the point of the 320ed....

BMW already make the 316d and 318d (both 2.0L diesel engines) for superb fuel economy....

hopefully the new Kia K5 would have ventilative (heating and cooling) seats too (probably on their SX model)....

Hyundai and Kia already have these features on their i45 and K5 and above sedans....
