beside the anti-glare mirror (aka chromatic mirror), the 318's rear seat also cannot fold down.

as for the price, during the last airshow, the car is going at a offer price of around 111k. hope that give u a good indicator of how much u can bargain after taking the COE hike into the equation..

I was considering it but it was really bare and the car was really sluggish.. had to keep my feet constantly at the pedal to keep it moving.. and mind u, it was a long drive..

such 'low' prices are to attract more people into owning a 'Premium Marque'....

i guess the new 3-Series is coming soon too....

PML starting to clear stocks....

start to clear now, better than clearing at a later date when the new car is about to arrive....

i thk u r referring to the dimming rear view mirror..act quite useful altho not life n death necessary...my only complaint is the size is abit small tho...

actually that can be done aftermarket.. come with built in reverse camera somemore.. similar to the one on the i45

Well, its not that bad..

But if got that budget....I rather choose A4 1.8TFSI than 318i/320i...

I personally preferred A4 looks and the performance...

that budget, if have, means increasing it by another 10k or so

not the A4 1.8TSI lah....

if one get the A4, must opt for the 2.0TSI model....

might as well ask that person to up more to the budget and get the new 5 series during their launch price

I bought the current 318 in Dec 09. OMV was $35.5k and COE was $19k.

Frankly speaking, the so-called detune 2l engine for 318 is just nice. I have tried the 320 which is having same engine, but the ECU is tuned to give higher horse-power. I find that the 320 power delivery (from 0 - 100 km) though is faster but not as smooth, compared to the 318.

I have driven the 318 up & down genting in 3 occasions, it was very stable (& no problem climbing the genting slope). The ave consumption from s'pore to kl is about 13.3 km per litre, which is reasonable.

For the rear seats, it is not as comfortable as Jap saloons (due to the large centre tunnel & wheel arch). For the A4, the rear seats space isn't that good either.

a friend told me it is damn spastic to get a luxury car which comes without electric driver seat and without auto aircon as these are standard features that can be found in almost all entry level luxury cars. this is his pet peeve about the basic model of 318 and 320. haha..

my pet peeve would be performance. lower powered engine is quite difficult to accept at this price. is the a4 1.8T price similar? if then, i think that's a better deal compared to 318

I was at Audi on Sat. The 1.8l A4 attraction is selling at $150k net, and A4 Ambition selling at $161k net. Was told that 318 is $130k net.

Anyone get lower than these prices, over the weekend :D

the handling is definitely there but I'm surprised at the power delivery comment u have on the 320.

as for avg consumption, may i know your average speed to get 13/3km/l? coz when I go on NS highway, my FC is worse than singapore but that's because i average 160 and above :D

the rear seat, esp the part near the door opening is quite bad.. so that was due to the wheel arch?

I'm ok with the center tunnel, i find it good, esp for those wearing miniskirt [:p]

add on to the list of what is missing, the 318 came with synthetic leather as well.

melody have replied on the price..

frankly, the 318 is sitting on the fence.. cost more than the usual 3 japz: teana, accord and camry but still cheaper than main stream entry level of executive conti like C class, A4, S60 and their own 320..

going against the other conti like vw, opel, citroen , renault, skoda, etc will lose out in equipment but won them by badge..

I would say it's a mental struggle to buy this car.. I was in that dilemma then

The higher horsepower for 320 is due to ECU programming. My previous SAAB experience is also the same - SAAB 95 with 185bhp can be upgraded to 220bhp. After the ECU upgrade, the higher power is there, but compromising the smooth delivery.

When I am NS highway, I usually stick to 110km/h (b'cos of previous bad experiences in m'sia summonses), with few occasions at higher speed to over-take slower traffic :D

I tried the 2 back to back and the 320 is definitely more responsive...and yes, the leather, different class

FYI, it is more than ECU. 318 & 320 use different DISA (Intake manifold).

i was prepared to let u be Mamasan and pimp me.. but then, i decided that I can have the badge on my son's car when he learn to cycle..

ya.. leather is impt.. in case the car's electronic fail and we are lock up, at least we can chew on the leather while waiting for rescue..

seems like PML decide that 318 owner are not worth saving..

U could change the intake manifold, but ECU will not recognised it as 325. Pointless!!
