Regarding chipset, the marbella guy said the chipset in the garmin 1460 n marbella m880 is using the same samsung chipset. And he mentioned the $199 holux 62f is using a slower chipset.

I wen down today and looked ard.. Guess i still like garmin's interface best.

u cant go wrong with a garmin - bought mine 3 years ago and still serving me well. the real test came when my friend (using a garmin) had to lead his suv convoy friends out of a jungle in malaysia when the rest using other made of gps could not pin-point where they were anymore. maybe its something to do with the mapping, i'm not sure.

I do have a garmin, just find updating maps on garmin a chore. Cant really understand what msm n mfm are talking most of the time.

But i like the interface best. Maybe i might just stick to my 200 nuvi n try updating maps again.

I bet now most GPS are quite up to standard unlike in the past.

I do like Garmin interface as well, but it seem like marbella is another good choice as it is not too expensive. Value with money. I will give that a try if I decided to get it tomorrow. =)

Great! I just went to PC Show and got the M660 plus + instead of M880 slim deluxe.

Appreciate to the guy who explained the set to me. In fact, I quickly get a hand of it after figuring for few min in the car. Locking system is very fast and accurate. The 4.3" screen is better than the 5" because of the resolution and size.

When I had the GPS mount on my windscreen in front, it does not look very bulky at all. Instead, it look perfectly nice.

Spent this $169 happily.

welcome on board dudes! ^_^

i went back to PC show e 2nd time and help my colleague to get a same set too!! seriously think the $$ is well spent. personally, i think the M880 is a bit lag compared to the M660+ (not very noticable till u place 2 of them side by side), guess becuz they have more functions in it.

experienced the junction view this afternoon on SLE too n think it'll be really usefull in malaysia...cant wait to test it. [:)]

Updating with mfm is relatively easy.

If you have a SD card, then both drives will generally appear in the PC as sequential drives like E:\, F:\ or G:\, H:\, etc. The 1st drive is internal memory and 2nd drive is the SD card.

Both drives should have a garmin directory where you'll put the map.

The map is a file called gmapsupp.img. There are other names as well, depending on which Nuvi supports.

When you install mfm, just follow the instructions. You might need to have a mapsource application available. If you don't have one, you need to download and install Garmin Training Center, followed by Garmin Mapsource.

During the installation of mfm, the last part would be asking you if you want to copy into the garmin device, just choose the SD directory. If you have an existing file with the same name, it will overwrite it. So if you want to keep the old map, you got to rename it first.

Then restart the Nuvi and you should see the new map available.

Thanks bro... i managed to update the maps from my garmin set.. surprisingly it went easy this time round compared to last year when i ran into some problems with all those mapsource etc... this time i didn't even used any of those. Managed to update some POIs as well. i used msm maps, instead of mfm.

looks like i wun be buying a new gps set.
