I think after sales not too bad based on their active engagement on forums ... ironically they never reply email .... as for the hotline ... the support guy is quite good at solving issue ... provided you get hold of him .... normally need to try 4 or 5 times ... but product wise ... i'm kinda leaning towards regret ... should have invested in a better GPS .... as for the FM transmitter ... can forget about using it .... if you need to hear the command than you have to bear the FM noise ...

post-53952-1293704758_thumb.jpgThanks to all for the advise.

Just bought a Garmin nuvi 1460 SG/MY version from Challenger. 5 inch screen, pretty bright - Bluetooth connection / speaker, No FM Transmitter (anyway I didn't want if even if they give me, so many wirings...)

Pretty useful, but once enter into underground - (KPE), basement carparks, signal will be lost slowly. Before I move out, I will pre-amp the GPS to head to my designated location, and it will be patiently awaiting for me to reach open space. Anyway when one does need directions, use the GPS. If you have a preferred route, then go ahead. This can save up to 10 routes. (not sure how to do though)

The power is based on battery and its pretty good so far, (but of course if plugged in - the satelite signal will be better - duh)

Downloaded SingaporeWalks from Garmin website - where it features all sightseeings, shopping, food at an easy touch of the finger. Even changed the car icon into several different designs from Garmin Garage. POI icons - already updated - guess don't need it. SG by MalsingMaps - latest update.

Voiceover pronounced Ave as "Ah - V" Haven't tried the Cantonese / Mandarin / Japanese voiceovers yet.

Haven't used my dashboard mount, as my current mount can hold 2 items - My Mobile Phone and GPS.

I am still thinking whether should I have a technician to install a power cable beside (eg. another cig lighter insert)..... need some design / technical advise..(see attached)

Just plastic cover for switches/indicators.

The wirings should be fusebox under that area and pulled over via footwell on right then follow the frames up to window level before following the IU unit route then back to the GPS to keep unsightly(and sometimes dangerous) wires nicely hidden.

Not sure about your set , but my old Garmin took very long. I got a new one recently and can detect extremely fast. Some tips is wait till you come out of blind spots like basement carpark, MSCP then on it. Sometimes stopping a while at an open space helps in faster detections

Congrats on your purchase of a Garmin GPS device. You have made the right choice! [laugh] Actually, the latest Garmin map, MSM NT map and MSM ver 5.xx map is able to travel under the tunnels here with losing signals. What it does is to go into simulation mode the moment it loses satellite signal. This way, on simulation mode, it will continue to navigate and guide you till you exit the tunnel. This is provided you travel at a constant speed from the time you enter the tunnel till you exit. The other thing about the "10 route" is actually what they called it, in the newer Nuvi series, as "Trip Planner". In the older series, it was called "Custom Routes". This feature is found only in high end Garmin model. Trips are multi-destination journeys that you build and save on the GPS, then activate when you want to start driving to the first stop on the trip.

When you create a trip, your 1460 allows you to order the stops however you like, or you can have the GPS automatically sort the destinations in the most efficient order. This is known as Optimization.

I believe most GPS should have. With Garmin, the map will indicate all the R&R points along the NSH and if you can download the R&R POI from malfreemaps, it will alert you when you are within 1 km from the next R&R stop.
