Ok, now I understand what you meant. And I think you misunderstood the 'event' thing. The normal, event, and parking recording run chronologically. Parking is well understood. Event is when during normal recording, the camera G-sensor detected higher motion than the pre-set values (for example, in an accident, or in my case when I drive over speed breakers), hence the particular file will be classified as "event" in the blackvue software playback display. I think it is just to allow us to filter out the files easily.

I set my recorder to overwrite files first in first out, and i'm not sure if event will be overwritten as well. So, if you want it to be labelled as event, all you need to do is just to tap on the camera to activate the G-sensor. If not, it will still be recorded as "normal" until it gets overwritten.

Just my experience after owning the set for one day.

Hi bro, u mentioned "I set my recorder to overwrite files first in first out" , correct me if i m wrong, i thought this is default? where to set the option for this?

Anyone ever been asked to switch it off at woodlands/tuas checkpoints? I remember seeing signage saying no recording allowed, I think it might apply to car recorder.

A few months back there was a topic on this. Got one bro was stopped at Woodlands Checkpoint by an officer (who spotted his cam) and they questioned him for a few hours, then released.

Last month I went in JB, I on the cam cos I observed they don't check out-going cars. But when I drove back in, I totally removed it, so as not to stir any trouble cos I know they will detail check all in-coming cars.

As a Singaporean, I'm more concerned at the Malaysia side, and not the Singapore side. So at Malaysia side, I go for the Green Lane, so won't get checked at all.

How 'cheap' is your cheap?

I think like you too, video quality is third importance to me. First importance is able to record without lags, and don't 'black-out' suddenly. Second is affordability.

U want to capture hit-n-run then u get one cam with motion detector, or run yr cam 24/7. Yr 'cheap DVR' comes with motion detection function?

Neutral Newbie

I been through a couple of times. I didn't get stopped. Probably the form factor helps?

SKC2995U. u-turning from 2nd lane

always practise caution i guess.

But with the DR400, its seems that there is not 'official' way of triggering the manual event.. This means that you would have a very small collection of events (hopefully none, as lets face it your rarely have a crash) and a period of continous footage.. The most important feature for me in an incar DVR is the ability to trigger and event. That way, as well as the continuous footage you have IF you need it, you have a selection of clips of things you have observed throughout your journey.

This really makes it a bit pointless, especially as you have to define how much of the card is reserved for each catagory.. This means that you will generally only ever had a small(ish) amount of time for the Normal mode, and then loads of reserved space for Events and Parking.. Events that in general are only going to happen once (i.e a collision).

But as you say, you can trigger the G-sensors by tapping the camera, fooling it into thinking that there was a crash and forcing it to store an 'event'. But I find it hard to believe the Pittasoft intended this behaviour.. For me, I am just surprised that you can press the big button to store an event, and hold it to switch to parking mode.. It would be an easy thing to add in firmware, and it truth I am staggered that they don't have it.

Bro what happen to my LUKAS is that if i brake hard (ie to avoid an accident), the DVR will start to beep to trigger an event recording. I haven't really take a look at the blackvue software but for LUKAS one you can set the parameters yourself. I set it to insensitive and sometimes even during normal turning it will record as an event.

If you didn't exceed the parameters = it's not enough to trigger as an event? Think about it this way, my event files will not be overwrited. So if i were to 'record' so many events, i find myself taking out the SD card every now and then just to delete the event files? This will somehow defeat the purpose of an ease free DVR?

If you want to record a certain event down, then i guess the only way is to buy a bigger card, once go back home export it out or

switch off the cam, bring home export it out to your computer? or

buy another SD card, when you have an event, swap it ?
