Spinelli_ck 6th Gear August 21, 2017 Share August 21, 2017 as a major naval power, this is very embarrassing for the US Navy. during peacetime already like that, how to fight bui bui Kim?
KapitanE 1st Gear August 22, 2017 Share August 22, 2017 The machines/radar can give out advance warnings of danger etc, unless the crew don't pay attention or doze off! it is still the human that set the safety parameters for the alarms to go off..... This is a recording of all the traffic in the area at the time of the collision.... as you can see, plenty of ships passed and near the vessels that had collided... what do you think the safety distance should be set on the radar systems before the alarms goes off? A prudent navigator will switch the alarms off and navigate with his eye balls and not be dependent on machines.... end of the day, it is the human that make the decision. Chongster 6th Gear August 22, 2017 Share August 22, 2017 The radar warning can switch off one???? Maciam like my car reverse sensors? Problem with these navy vessels is that they believe that they are above the law so they don't bother to follow the standard rules of navigation. RSS courageous is one example. It's like those lorry drivers who heck care everything and just drive as if the whole road is theirs. Except in this case, they aren't driving a lorry but a jap kei car. When the meet an actual lorry (VLCC, VLOC, etc), then mati lor. You don't see anyone ramming a carrier though right? You don't see anyone ramming a carrier though right? anyways, lives are lost and that is sad.... just don't understand why the naval craft did not use her speed to avoid the incident. from pictures of the damages on the USN ship, it is very clear that the bulbous bow penetrated the hull and the flare of the bow also left marks and damages to the sheerstrake of the warship... if the USN ship have put telegraph to full ahead just before the contact, they may have just avoided the collision. Could it be that they detected late and they are already at full speed otherwise the collision would have been much worse? Btw, if you read about the yokohama incident, you will wonder how the US navy is the most powerful in the world. They couldn't even conclusively say (the time) when the incident happened. ↡ Advertisement
