Kelvingoh45 Clutched May 25, 2010 Share May 25, 2010 Aircon at home fail so went down to Courts, the salesman there tell me that if my existing piping is conceal behine warobe or floor ceilling, they will not be able to change. The price of the system 4 aircon will still be the same even without piping changed. Will the performance of the new aircon be affected if piping are not change? What are the recomended brands for aircon. Mitsubishi,Carrier,Toshiba? ↡ Advertisement
Sjww57 Neutral Newbie May 25, 2010 Share May 25, 2010 Currently my system 3 also spoilt after 10 years. Upgrade to Mitsubishi System 4. I bypass all the major store and go direct to a aircon installation shop. Major store offer the BTU is lesser. I manage to get a 34000 BTU for HDB flat. Individual is 10,000 btu and the hall is 24000btu. All wiring and piping change new. If u are from 3 to 4, the bigger unit piping is different size. If I just change my compressor but keep the blower, they say No gurantee.

Fcw75 Hypersonic May 25, 2010 Share May 25, 2010 my piping keep clogging up resulting in water leaking from the unit itself. any DIY solutions to recommend instead of paying the aircon man to come and clear the pipes? I kenna the same problem recently. Unless you have the wet vacuum cleaner then you can DIY. Just suck the dirt out from the water outlet pipe. It's clogging the pipe. Else better to call the aircon guy. I call this guy who did my aircon for $30. Took out the whole unit to clean and also use the vacuum cleaner to suck from the outlet pipe. Best_ctzn Clutched May 25, 2010 Share May 25, 2010 my piping keep clogging up resulting in water leaking from the unit itself. any DIY solutions to recommend instead of paying the aircon man to come and clear the pipes? A ugly DIY method is to do a bypass from the fancoil output directly and pipe the tube to a pail on the floor. But must remember to empty the pail every morning. I had been using those aircon cleaner foam [in aerosol can]. The foam will clean the coils/fins in the room units, and will also loosen those "algae" that accumulate in the pipings, especially at the room unit drain hole. These aircon cleaners are available in Mustafa, Homely Hardware, ........ You can give a try. Simply follow the instructions on the can.

At IMM, I keep seeing this pushcart that sells such cleaners - Mckenzie or something... Anyway, my aircon guy will use compressed air to clear the pipes every 6 months when he comes over to service my aircons... But my system 4 (McQuay) is coming to 10 years old and will need to replace them soon...
