Turbocharged

Omg, after reading the comments I realised ppl still dunno that CVT steel belt or chain hardly have any difference between the two.

CVTs are virtual gears, they are very similar to the sprocket and chain configuration found on a bicycle rear wheel except the sprockets are replaced by a pulley.

I dun like CVT cos of the rubber band effect. I find it funny to hear the engine reaches its revs but have to wait for the power to arrive later.

but if you understand your car CVT system, you can actually save a lot of fuel.

No one mention Fiat?

Fiat punto not Grande Punto , runs on CVT transmission developed by Fuji Subaru .It comes originally with a ATF oil cooler installed from factory .

Basically, there's an all-automatic Continuously Variable Transmission controlled from the right-hand side of the selector gate, which includes the familiar low gear "hold" to give some engine braking on hills, plus an E button for economy change-up. When the lever is in D, a snick to the left puts it into manual mode, with six gears.

Of course, these aren't actually "gears", but it's quite something to watch the indicator flick up from 4 to 5 to 6 as you blip the selector forward to control the sequential upward changes.

It's already 5 years since I got it new .Never had any problem here or up north revving except wear and tear items.

That's the only good thing about it. In terms of power delivery, it sucks. I have to accommodate to the CVT characteristics to get the fuel efficiency. I still prefer the gearbox which accommodate to what the driver wants, which is the standard manual gearbox.

Now the F1 style paddle shift will be an in-thing. The change up and down is right at your finger tip. No need the hand to shift up and down [cool] . Faster.

my workshop guy say that honda city i-dsi model is cvt and does not require to change timing belt... is this true?

pros of CVT - smooth, fuel savings, good for city driving, long distance lagi best

cons of CVT - less power/torque, the 'feel' is like floating, gearbox needs to be maintained sui sui

continously variable tranmission

meaning planetary gearing and stretchable gear ratio meaning no fixed no. of gears

supposedly smooth but no power

seen by enthusiasts as a so called "lousy gearbox"

but good enough for normal leisure drives

Common term is rubberband gearbox [laugh]

Anyone knows if stuff like Sprint Booster will cause damage to CVT engines?
