but actually la i was more of like *picture at the counter of a 5 star hotel KL*

"This is ridiculous (Slam the granite top with strength)"

"I emailed your reservations department regarding this. They told me no problem whatsoever and now when i am here you tell me this? This is ridiculous."

"Sir, many apologies but the reservation is handled by a 3rd party"

"This here is black and white. I don't care how you are going to do it. But I hope I am making myself very clear here. I am not paying for the extra bed which does not even exist in my room in the first place. Do you think I am so free to be able to email your colleagues for fun? I did not email your reservations department for fun. I dont care if you have 3rd party, 4th party or whatever. You settle it"

So in the end got settle? Must learn something cos I also use card to book hotel online.

because i booked the hotel online so they charged it partially to my credit card.

i see credit cards/banks as a added insurance.

like for example, i once bought something on ebay. the item didnt come. So i lodged a dispute with paypal and bank.

bank recredited amount nearly immediately into my account while investigations were on-going.

most impt thing is must keep black and white. if you have black and white then you not scared already.

if say the hotel didnt agree, i'd definitely

1. write to newspapers

2. bombard the internet

3. call bank stop payment

be prepared to assert your rights

I dont think the bank will stop the payment. Once the charge is billed to you, the merchant will have the funds. The agreement is between you and the merchant, the bank is just using the card associations as a mode of payment. The bank will at most give you a temporary credit GOG while handling the chargeback for you.

I recently been pumping with my debit card and it seems like they freaking hold the 200RM for more than 1 week already..!

Usually how long would they take to credit you back that 200RM huh..?

My actual pump $ has already been deducted after 3 days but the freaking 200RM is still being held.. :(

Perhaps you can ask the bank that issued that debit card. As far as I know, before pumping, the station sends a preauthorization request to the bank to lock 200 MYR. When pumping ends, it sends a capture request to the bank saying how much has been pumped. Usually, it does a batch closure at the end of the day. After batch closure, there is no more activity for that payment at the station level. I suppose it is the issuing bank that is responsible for determining how long the 200 MYR should be held. In my opinion, after the issuing bank has been informed of the actual amount used, there is no reason for it to keep the original amount locked.

bro i think this is standard practice by hotels.

i learn this when i was send to bkk on a company trip, they put me up in a not so cheap hotel, when i reach my room citi alerts send mi a sms saying

few hundred k baht has been charged to my card. i see the 0s until my eyes [dead][dead][dead] .

called back citibank sg n ask wads this transaction about, they say its a deposit held by the hotel.

i asked them deposit held and charge to me is different thing, your citi alerts says charged, they say its the same thing.

went to concierge they confirm its charged by them but will be returned 1 week after i check out.

take note the booking was done by my admin charged to coy account, i only give them my card during check-in but all along i tot its jus for record purpose and will charge if there is a need.

but no, its the other way round, its charged to you then if there is no expenses then refund.

another time my parents used my sup card at conrad KL and somehow when i got the bill there is some extra charges not reflected in the bill.

to me if its not in the bill its not mine unless u call n tell me they ate the mini-bar or sorts.

anyway send in dispute to citibank and they refunded the charged amount, no questions asked.

Ok apparently, they will deduct the principal sum / amount first after 3 days thereabouts, and then STILL HOLD the freaking 200RM for an additional 1 week / 7 days more before crediting it back to you...

Hence, total holding period for that 200RM would be 10 days :)

Totally not worth it if you're using your debit card...

Exchange rate was like shiet as well [:p]
