Throttle2 Supersonic May 9, 2010 Share May 9, 2010 Sorry man I have long-legged children 1.8m no need to worry. it looks small but it is fine inside. Quoting from experience as i was one of the few prouds owners of the all New S40 2.4i when it first launched in 2004. paid $126 for mine with Moonroof specially indented. But do consider the 2.4 with at least 170+bhp. definitely nifty enough. ↡ Advertisement

I drove it to KL once and all my friends were perfectly comfortable.

Relagsingh 4th Gear May 9, 2010 Share May 9, 2010 But this one is 2.0 with 145bhp. it comes with the DCT right? is it akin to the VW DSG? yes?
Kelpie 2nd Gear May 9, 2010 Share May 9, 2010 this S40 is really pathetically small. do consider carefully. the wheel base is even shorter than a forte. its like buying a mercedes A class Yalor, can buy if don't care whether S40 interior is smaller than same class or whether is now owned by mainland china. I don't think owning a Volvo has any image to talk about comparing with other premium conti . Is it IL-5 to begin with? Regards,
Shanhz 3rd Gear May 9, 2010 Share May 9, 2010 (edited) With the Euro plunged....I think conti cars will be 'cheaper' compared to Jap cars few months down the road. I think Singaporean got to get the Japan is good mindset out and try conti cars. Painfully Slow? Acceleration you mean? Do we really need fast acceleration on Singapore road? Come on...most car average 0-100km/hr is aound 9-11secs. Do you really need a 7-8sec fast car? last time, the price differential quite big, so considering jap reliability the running cost very much cheaper. now the gap is smaller, conti is worth considering as long as you are aware of the long term running costs and laosai depre (esp for wowo). 2L is really very slow due to underpower. good acceleration can get u out of tricky situations sometimes. if spend 100k+ on a car, can easily get a high end jap with big cc, much better than 2L wowo. but if it's the T5, then mai tu liao. to TS, do check out the local wowo forum. quite some niggling concerns with the gearbox also. but otherwise, wowo is an under-rated car for sure. Sony 1st Gear May 9, 2010 Share May 9, 2010 Forget about T5. Get the T6 instead! http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...215&DL=1000 Tho its a 2nd hand car.....but its 160k and 1 yr old nia. 90k off the price a brand new one. Whopping V6 3L car......285hp 400 torque. 0-100km/hr in 6.9s. Hell a lot of power!!! and also high road tax which owner can shout at lesser mortal to get off the road.. and VIP treatment at petrol station.. but it gives a rex a good run as well. Hungee Neutral Newbie May 9, 2010 Share May 9, 2010 (edited) So I am not alone to feel it's under-powder Tested it in rain on Saturday afternoon, at traffic, step accl no response until after 2 sec. SE say I dunno how to drive it, say I should rev gradually Anyway it's really small, though interior legroom & headroom are fine. $109k promo no more, now is $116k liao. Great price for the high COE & OMV. Good for those who aspire a Volvo ... Edited May 9, 2010 by Hungee
Soya Supersonic May 10, 2010 Share May 10, 2010 Most will be surprised to know that the interior room of the S40 and 'bigger' S60 is almost the same benefitting from a newer, more compact exterior design. The 2.0L, which is shared wif the Mazda6, is a tad underpowered and owners' feedback of the powershift tranny is not entirely fuss-free. To me, a true volvo muz always be a TC one. Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear May 10, 2010 Share May 10, 2010 fast acceleration car is only needed for thrills.... but most of the time you won't be able to exceed 100kph on normal driving conditions.... you don't need a powerful car for singapore's road.... most of the time you wouldn't be using even 50bhp for cruising around on our roads.... the more power you have for your car, the more prone it's gonna to explode or catch fire in jam packed singapore roads.... Knighthunter 4th Gear May 10, 2010 Share May 10, 2010 S40 2.0L is not bad, I was also considering it last year when it launched first time. I tested S40 2.4L and V50 2.0L, no test drive car for S40 2.0L that time. Only major disadvantage for me is booth size is too small. Engine characteristic is similar to Mazda 6SP I have that time, sluggish at low end but once hit above 3k RPM power is there. If selling at 109 with 30k+ COE is good buy, I was lauched at 89k last yeart with 5k COE.
