I know all the World Cup stuff have been posted, just want to poll football fans general feeling about the screening of the World Cup 2010.

For me, I will NOT pay such exorbitant fee to watch the WC. If I do, the next WC will probably cost more.

Who's to blame? I blame the telcos, they inflated the BPL rights to broadcast so much that who wouldn't take notice and try to make something out of the WC.

How come no option to blame those stupid idiots who say they willing to pay no matter how much because its the world cup, its a once in 4 year bla bla bla during market survey. Next time got this type of survey, simply say your budget is $10.

Will not pay.

Govt is responsible.

Because they think that competition aka market forces = better prices for consumers.

When things are not going right, they still sit on their A*&es collecting Big wages and do nothing about it. Very good examples are this EPL/world cup fiasco and of course our infamous oil cartel which does not really exists if you ask the govt or the petrol companies...

So i choose to vote with my money for this and for GE vote with the piece of white paper they are providing.

Jason Nah will not sign up for the 2010 World Cup packages, preferring to catch the football action at a Johor Baru coffeeshop. -- ST PHOTO: ASHLEIGH SIM

FOR RM$0.70 (S$0.30), the cost of a teh tarik in a Johor Baru coffeeshop, Jason Nah will catch the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Parking is free and the shop has massive 42-inch flat-screen television sets.

That is what you call a good deal, not the offer announced by SingTel's chief of content and media services Edward Ying, added the personal trainer, who has watched the World Cup since the 1986 Finals in Mexico.

On Friday, Ying announced that home viewers would have to pay $66 (price before GST) for the early-bird package for live telecasts of the 64 World Cup football matches.

This works out to slightly over $1 per game, or as Ying said at the press conference then - about the price of a cup of coffee.

Nah plans to watch all the matches featuring his favourite teams Spain and Ghana, as well as any big clash starting from the knock-out rounds.

The Liverpool fan has been making such trips to watch the English Premier League in Johor at least once a month for the past four years.

Read the full story in Wednesday's edition of The Straits Times.

y dont we boycott them?? all people dont suscribe and see what they can do. got the right to telecast but no viewer, confirm they reduce the price. from what i know, there are about 7000 ppl dont want to suscribe and 70x7000= $500k already, if 70k singaporeans do not suscribe it will be 5 million loss to singtel and starhub. rather than spend $70, i rather buy a indoor antenna cos about 30 can watch indo channel for free which telecast world cup match.

can also watch from RTM1 from the conventional socket..

Iam afraid it won't be so straight forward. They can "disturb" the reception easily...

I think next world cup the telcos can forget about charging $70...probably not even $40 can entice pple to subscribe as next world cup is held in Brazil and most of the matches would be telecast at "unearthly" timings..
