SimonTan 2nd Gear May 5, 2010 Share May 5, 2010 It does not matter, as people forgets! You mean the blackout one time, and forever no one will want to use the convention halls ever? Gamblers lose most of the time....but stupidly or stubbornly they will still visit the two casino again and again.

Scion Turbocharged May 5, 2010 Share May 5, 2010 (edited) projects are like that... management, influenced by marketing, wants deadlines and shipment (if any)... many times in my previous company, we always rush to launch my products (consumer electronics)... creating a wow factor in the market... as for the bugs? we will slowly solve them in later versions... the timing of the first launching is very important Edited May 5, 2010 by Scion

Help1 1st Gear May 5, 2010 Author Share May 5, 2010 since the 2 IRs have been delayed for quite some time, might as well delay a further bit more to ensure everything is ok. each of the IR open not even a week, breakdown cases happened.....sometime this so-called "soft launch" is really a killer to their image and reputation. Intending to be quicker, you won't get where you want but more sh!t to deal with......

SimonTan 2nd Gear May 5, 2010 Share May 5, 2010 Those with project experiences will want to start it as early as possible to test it on the real case basis. There is NO way you can catch the defects or faults if you never open it for business to real people. How are you going to test the power loading if you never hold a real convention for the full hours? Engineers cannot sit in the aircon convention halls all day just to wait for things to happen. If there is no real human heat load, how you can set the air con temperature levels? If there is no real human toilet activities, how you going to set the pump flow and knows got choking issues or not? Of course if there is no stupid thief who steal chips or handbags in the casino, how will the security team practice their protocol and drills? Using dummy situation are all wayang, like what I did in the army.

Intending to be quicker, you won't get where you want but more sh!t to deal with...... That's why call soft launch mah. They need to try out the real thing "softly" first. We can check and check but nothing beats the thing running live. So the soft launch period is really to iron out these issues.
