Only from the momentum of a moving car that you can Turn the key and engage Gear 1 or D mode.... It looks you guys never did it before... Haha... obviously the bear is toking abt manual. Read dude. Relagsingh 4th Gear May 3, 2010 Share May 3, 2010 I think he mean clutch in to gear 1. then engage Clutch. push start and release clutch, in short, let the propellor shaft jump start the engine for you. thats the 'auto only' generation perhaps?? heh... dun flame me pls. all in good humour. Relagsingh 4th Gear May 3, 2010 Share May 3, 2010 mayb u misunderstood.. whats the diff between gear 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5, when the clutch is in as compared to neutral? and the car doesnt have to be in motion before u can turn the key or engage gear.. on a side note, u have to turn the key even before u start moving.. or else you might just lock the steering just keep it in ignition. or else the cylinders wun even fire! No need to engage D for Auto cars. But the speed of the car (you push) must be quite good or else the car won't start. In MSCP you can start car after you push to down ramp in Neutral... I had my 2 previous Auto car flat battery parked @ 3 level... So I OMO. Last time my Mit Lancer failed to start when reach ground level so a kind neighbour allow me to use Jumpstart cables using his car battery. Jumpstart cable - Always have 1 in your car... Mahjong74 Supercharged May 3, 2010 Share May 3, 2010 Push start a manual car... How many know how to do it? Not the pushing part. Actually, the easier way to push start a manual car is to use reverse push start. It is a little bit easier than put the gear to 1 or 2. But for forward push start, it is easier to put the gear to gear 2 rather than gear 1. I did also tried to push start auto car before, 1.put the gear to N and ignition to on 2. Push the car to achieve certain speed. 3. put the gear from N to D. But the success on auto car push start very low. Managed to learn all these knowlegde when my father still operating a car workshop before he retired.

Wouldn't really recommend down ramps for jump starts because of the lack of run off after the ramps. I duno wanna be another jerk to wreck my car in a MSCP. Agree on the jumpstart cable tho but its kind of messy to keep.

Yeah I know is dangerous, esp your car no power steering... the feel is different and you need to be careful with cars in MSCP. Satelitewhs Neutral Newbie May 21, 2010 Share May 21, 2010 I find push starting a manual car in 2nd gear easier than 1st gear. What I did for my friend's old proton Saga last time was just engage 2nd gear, step on the clutch (to free the gear so that the car can be pushed), turn the key to Postion On and get 1-2 persons to push from behind. Once you feel the speed is there, then release the clutch (while the gear is still in 2nd) and the engine will start. One more important thing, get the lightest person who knows what to do to drive the car. Imagin pushing the car with a 90kg person vs a 50kg person... ↡ Advertisement
