Hi guys... my engine mountings kaput and i have to change new ones...

But after i changed all 5 new engine mountings, the engine is so solid firm until i can feel vibrations and weird noises inside the car.

Even my sunroof have rattling noise when i clutch in and move off.

Anyone experience this?

I cannot possible change back to old mountings right...? [:(]

Go back to your workshop.

Should not have this problem.

I changed mine and nothing of what you stated above happens.

Not advisable to change back to old mountings.

(edited)

I went back and apparently they cant do anything. [shakehead]

The explaination the boss give is that the engine with new mounting is very firm now so the engine vibrations will be felt somehow.

Neutral Newbie

Please check to confirm that the workshop installed the ori mountings.

Based on your iput, there are 2 possibilities:

1) they used the PU mountings or

2) they mounted wrongly.

just my 2cts.

New mountings should actually absorb the vibrations from the engine. And actually vibrations should be felt from old engine mountings instead, because the mountings condition has deteriorated. Maybe you should have the engine idling adjusted so that it doesn't vibrate that much.

new mounting shouldnt cause all these problems. even when i changed to fairly new (used) mountings on my previous car, the stable effect can be felt.

PU = poly urethane. its like those super strength bushings. brands such as energy bushings, superpro, and polybushings offer.

engine mountings are 'viscous units' this days, means inside got fluid one.

maybe he thought u racer beng so install those racing mountings? Used to strengthen the mount between the chassis and the engine due to the increased power output and twisting of the engine from constant redlining. much stronger and stiffer than stock mounts and has no vibration damping properties.

Something is wrong.

usually after changing, it sud b very quiet & no vibs at all.

I think the mech screwed-up or your mountings got some problems.

Go see them again & see how. Maybe mech no experience to do it.

I doubt they used PU mountings as these r more ex & they wil only install if u request & r willing to pay more.

Maybe old stock & rubber already harden up or poor installation done.

Either way it looks like a lousy ws.
