Cbx750p 1st Gear April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 (edited) This stunt driver Altis driver was trying very hard not to let a convoy of very fast Civic TypeR, S200, GTI overtake him for a good 8 km... dunno what he's trying to prove. In the end..he fishtail big time just after the last car overtook him on the outside on one of the fast left sweeper along a stretch of road near Tanjong Jara. He flip and disappeared into the ditch. The convoy quickly did a U turn to check on him...... Miracle that nobody was not flank out of the cars when it flip. We were horrified that there was 2 kids and the wife. I guess they were wearing seat belts. Stunt driver must be kicking his ass for what he was trying to proof. After the locals had called for tow truck and ambulance, we continue our journey. Morale of the story.....be mindful of your own skill level, type of car you drive and most importantly be courteous to other drivers by letting the faster car pass.... Stupid Idiot ! Nevermind the car....imagine the Sunday Boy Racer Uncle getting more than a mouthful from the wifey after this ! End of the day, everybody was wearing their safety belt and walked out alive ! Thanks to the Kiasu Singaporean must wear seat belt training back home. April 2010 Kuantan Edited April 27, 2010 by Cbx750p ↡ Advertisement

macrosszero Turbocharged April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 Epic fail P@wn3d The different between hero and zero is just one alphabet Driver must go to blackboard and write 1000 times, "just because my car has four wheels and a Civic Type R has four wheels doesn't mean I can go as fast". Based on TS's description, this is a Singapore car?
Dunno Neutral Newbie April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 Most likely the Altis driver tapped too hard on the brakes and caused a "fish tail" then lost control...
Felipe 3rd Gear April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 u mean the altis was on the right lane and not letting cars overtake? so cars have to overtake on the left?
Lucaswh 1st Gear April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 so it's cos went too fast into the sweeping corner? how does 'fish tailing' occur?
Dunno Neutral Newbie April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 Based on TS's description, this is a Singapore car? Yup, a SG car. The convoy u turned to check and make sure the occupants are safe, and left after the locals called for an ambulance/police, etc.
macrosszero Turbocharged April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 Fishtailing is somewhat like a tankslapper on a motorbike when it begins oscillating side to side. When it happens at a faster frequency than the driver can react, the car can get away from him very quickly. It could happen when the tail of the car steps out suddenly as the driver brakes for a bend but the weight shift causes loss of rear traction, particularly if coupled with steering input. The likelihood of weight shift causing extreme changes in handling balance increases with speed. In any case, I think that the soft stock suspension of the Altis has something to do with it also, the damping rate probably couldn't cope with the high speed/sudden direction change. Extramint Clutched April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 i thought we have 3 mirrors on our cars. not big enough to do a self reality check??? eh how come his car don't have many +5BHP stickers? like RS / TypeR / S-Line / AMG / SMG / V8 / V10 / V12 if i know this guy, i'd crack up in laughter everytime i see him. and pity his family. macrosszero Turbocharged April 27, 2010 Share April 27, 2010 Well when they talk about a stiff riding car being sporty, they're actually not far off. The reason is that with stiffer suspension, you can "feel" the limits better, the car talks to you clearly. So when the driver flicks the car out, he's also able to catch its rotation before it gets beyond recovery. When you see drift drivers hold a beautiful long drift, they're riding that knife edge of grip and slip. Fishtailing, well, all it depends is whether the driver is on top of things and controlling the angle of tail-out, or the car's just taking him for the ride. In this case, the Altis got way ahead of the driver. You can't go crazy-stiff on suspension though, there's always a limit to how stiff you can have it. Altis stock suspension cannot handle such acts, they are too soft and will easily cause the tyres to lose traction due to excessive body roll, especially if the tyres are not low profile UHP types. The front wheels were locked all the way and back wheels were not so badly locked, which is why the skid marks on the grass shows mainly front wheels, also could be due to the heavy braking thus the front is damaged and skid marks are more prominent for front wheels as the back lifted off slightly.
