Cerano 1st Gear May 13, 2010 Author Share May 13, 2010 kindly note my former concern bro i know the overall diameter doesnt change but " i wasnt concerned with the overall diameter of the tyre because i know increased profile will make up the diff. i was concerned that since there is more rubber due to the higher profile, it will be compressed more on that corner and the sidewalls will not be able to take it and thus fail. Ken4555 1st Gear May 13, 2010 Share May 13, 2010 Will not be useless, Example, if for a 15" rims, the specs are : 195 /65 R15 If you up 1 size to 16", you must get a specs like 205 /55 R16 So even though you change to a bigger rim, you must get a "55" (smaller size but for 16") tire. In this way, your 15" spare tire still can be used on 16" rims (i got this knowledge from some tire shop, good to know) just to share... did you know that if you compare... 195/55/16 VS 205/55/16 VS 215/55/16.... looks all the sme size but the last one is the biggest in diameter... cause its 55% or 215... VS 55% of 205... VS 55% of 195... got this link from one of the brothers here good to use... http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Happily1986 5th Gear May 14, 2010 Share May 14, 2010 Unless your overall rolling diameter changes drastically, it wouldn't be dangerous to use the spare tire for events like a short drive down to the nearest tire shop to do a proper tire patchup or tire swap. Fyi, theoretically your spare tire is supposed to be included in the cross tire rotation with your 4 tires in order to prolong tire use. Theoretically la.
