Genie47 1st Gear April 24, 2010 Share April 24, 2010 I like her music. It is not the commercial fluff and most probably won't make tons of money but she sings with her soul. Such A Common Bird Carnation ↡ Advertisement

Genie47 1st Gear April 25, 2010 Author Share April 25, 2010 There is commercial value but not the type that everyone is looking for. Not the Lady Gaga type. She is more "viral" in the popularity than driven by commercial fluff that the studios throw out. There are many more kinds of music out there and hers is not the mainstream type. Fade away or not, she got some really hardcore fans. When I heard her, she is more like a folksy version of Morissette. And also without the angst. She is ironically also Canadian like Morissette Now I ask all of you to judge. Does this have commercial value? or this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KRN3WdN6Yw One of my favorites too. and this: This one even more terror. Takes some kind of mind to appreciate. I like this one. My daughters do not understand. I told her to continue playing her plano and keep her ears open. She will understand. The thing about music as art is this. You set out to explore, question, inquire, bring insight and then express it. Let others experience it and judge for themselves. If you let the market judge it's value, it is not art. That is why music in SG is dead. Music in most of Asia is dead. Because as long as it doesn't make money, it is deemed not successful. The perverted generation of music lovers and producers in SG, TW, CN and but not to the extend of JP are interested in pretty faces that generate commercial value. Not the music. Especially the last video by Ulver. Damn effin good! The exploration of the subject with the music.
