There was a report I came across previously that showed Hurricane's filtration wasn't too good though you get more airflow.

Very true. How to compare a stainless steel filter with paper filter? Obviously by the sound, paper traps more dirt. But i stil using my hurricane drop in. Serves me well for 5 yrs. And i will keep on using it til COE expies.

Just bought a SS filter. brand is H-Projett. Becos of my older model vehicle, can't find the Simota filter. Was told it is as good as Simota, better than Hurricane but lose to KnN.

4 layer it says. Anyone out there has feedback on this?

I don't think any air filter will increase HP but it will feel like it due to the sound it makes. The purpose of the air filter is to prevent particulates from entering the engine that increases wear and tear. Most OEM paper filters do not impede air flow while providing good levels of filtration.

For air intake, if a low pressure cold air source can be used, then it will definitely help. However I think for most modern cars, the design of the air intake tract is already optimal. No need to waste money unnecessarily :)

"If you take a poo before you drive, that will gives you more performance gain than to put in the most expensive pod filter you can buy" [laugh]

try testing it on a crappy car like Altis which as designed to be underpowered for comfort and low noise...when testing it on a sports car that is almost optimized (at low manufacturing cost of course), then the 'gain' is almost zero or worst. Have you ever seen the air intake in an Altis? its has a tube that is bent in a U shape, with a slight curve inwards and with the stock filter is damn quiet (aim is to restrict the airflow to a level that it does not produce much noise). Just drop in a 'performance' filter (less filtering) and the performance increases..but so does the noise.

Another thing is they are testing for max HP, nothing on acceleration curve. 99% of us dont drive our cars to high speeds to enjoy the max HP. I bet many of us have NEVER ever hit their car's max HP. Some of us never ever floor the pedal!!!!! There are those that never even pass 4k RPM!!!!! some dont even go pass 100km/hr...EVER!!!!

The K&N filter is good ! The car feels lighter now as compared to stock.

Anybody can review K&N closed air intake? I was thinking to change and experiment the performance gained. Am driving a Cerato Forte 1.6A 2010
