Cus infact my england not so brilliant - just certain things bug me...and the borrow / lend is one of them.....

i can never really fathom the basics of english.

I think you are much better off than me though - I don't even come close to getting this "tone" thing in chinese. And I used to wonder why my teacher always think I be rude to her by calling her rat.

 

But also to be fair, chinese doesn't recognise a difference between borrow / lend or fetch / send right? So is very understandable why it gets mixed up. I see my own daughter do it when she translate directly from Chinese to English.
