Roger78 Neutral Newbie April 21, 2010 Share April 21, 2010 Hi all, Wish to check about this... My car transmission gearbox gives a slight jerk when stationary. Just a slight thump once or twice randomly when i stop at red lights.. It is still in D mode and I just depress the brakes to hold the car... What could be the reason to this?? Thanks.. ↡ Advertisement

Vhtfhwlego Supercharged April 21, 2010 Share April 21, 2010 When your car is not moving, use your left left to brake and right leg to rev. If that the car jerks, there will be a gearbox problem.

Best way to find out: off ur air con to c if any more jerk, if no more......its e compressor. Nothing u can do abt it as most car has tis prob esp smaller cc one

Chiangauto Clutched April 22, 2010 Share April 22, 2010 Most of the transmission troubles start from overheating. At higher temperatures the transmission fluid burns, losing its lubricating qualities and becomes oxidized leaving deposits all over inside the transmission. Exposed to the heat the rubber seals and gaskets inside the transmission become hardened causing leaks. The metal parts warp and lose their strength. All this, sooner or later, results in transmission failure.cleaning transmission pan, clean the pan magnet completely,Changing Transmission Filter, fitting your new gasket and Refilling Transmission. If still not work, pls send to workshop for fully gearbox check.

Pisces69 6th Gear April 22, 2010 Share April 22, 2010 Ya Check if its your AC compressor cutting in/out? Also check your ATF if its too low or high. If its dirty, get it changed & see how? Maybe u can try RP ATF (Dexron III) which is synthetic. I found it very good last time.

Nothing u can do abt it as most car has tis prob esp smaller cc one ============== For my earlier cars, there was always a screw to adjust the RPM when the AC cuts in. I was always able to adjust this till u cant feel the AC cutting in/out. But if the diaphragm is worn, then u might still need to change it (not ex) to get the adjustment properly done. Now my Optra is fuel injection with ECU, I not sure if can adjust or not, but since my AC is different & runs all the time, there is no problem with it jerking at all. Roger78 Neutral Newbie April 24, 2010 Author Share April 24, 2010 yes, ,after a few days of observing this problem.it is likely to be the a/c as the problem doesn't appears when I off it. the jerking happens more frequent now during red lights. :( why does this happens and how do I rectify it? how much? thanks. Pandaeyes Neutral Newbie April 24, 2010 Share April 24, 2010 suzuki sx4 Depending on how bad the jerk is, sometimes, the 1st gear of automatic cars can be the normal jerk. Unless you are talking about a violent jerk, there should not be any concern.
SaNibOy Clutched April 24, 2010 Share April 24, 2010 My car used to have violent jerks when changing gears. Fault? Its just a super small gear sensor at the back of the auto gearbox.

He is the best guy to check & advise u what to do. No obligation. If u feel his price is too high, just tell him u consider 1st. But honestly, I never found his charges to b high b4. Now I usually just tell him to do & I get his charges after the job is complete(unless its a major job). Thats how much I trust him. Dont b afraid to ask him anything u want. He is very friendly & most important. He is honest. Unlike many AC & ws mechs around who only want to cheat your $$$.
