Karebu 1st Gear April 20, 2010 Share April 20, 2010 If it's too good to be true, there's something wrong. don't be taken in by snake oil products. tons of discussion on this kind of things before - fuel saving blah blah.. Typically such discussions come to the conclusions that: 1) if it works, they will sell it to big companies like toyota bmw etc etc. 2) 400 is alot. how much can you save? let me give you 1/4 more mileage can? how much is your petrol cost per month? 200? say you save 50 each month then. You would need EIGHT months to break even. You sure it will work for EIGHT months and more to come? a boost in 25% mileage is impossible. you should giggle if you can get 2km more per litre. Osiris 1st Gear April 20, 2010 Share April 20, 2010 Bro, Look at the claims. It's all talk no supporting document/test. It refer to Japanese Newspaper report. But no reference to the actual article. It claimed to be patented but never cite patent no. so u can't verify if it's really patented. It refer to 2 cars test. SX4 and Getz. I cite their e.g. 400km b4, 440km 1 week after. I give you my real life example. 605km b4, 770km after. 27% improvement. Same route What am I using? nothing, that's the school holiday effect. Or if I choose to travel during non peak hours. http://www.s-nanoball.com/images/Nanoball/...20Write-upB.pdf It claims so many things. But no single independent test from reliable labs. That's snake oil
Kb27 Supersonic April 20, 2010 Share April 20, 2010 They just need to hit on a few people willing to part with $400. That's good money. You can't prove or disprove, it works or doesn't work. "Nano" is the buzzword these days. Just get some stones and call them nanoballs, nanostones, whatever. Package it nicely, get some "endorsements" or "testimonies" and people will buy. In short, that's snake oil.

Kb27 Supersonic April 20, 2010 Share April 20, 2010 Recently, I remove someones broquet with his permission of coz. It was filled with petrol. The reason is that broquet has a lot of fuel restriction due to its construction. So it appears to the buyer that he's "saving" fuel. You could have paid a 50 cent thimble to save water (by restricting flow) instead of $500 for a nice package and experience placebo effect. http://www.pub.gov.sg/conserve/home/pages/...mesprogram.aspx If you want to save on petrol, there's nothing better than your right foot and it's totally free. Do drop by something like De Sheng along Geylang road for repair advise...! Probably, they will take your damaged alternater for recon and sell to next fellow if replacement is required. Me got my starter motor service there .. Starter_ws.doc
Smhomie Clutched April 20, 2010 Share April 20, 2010 It depends. If you say your alternator is noisy, it could be just the bearings that need replacement. That being the case, they are trying to take the easy way out by asking you to replace the whole unit. If you do have a charging problem, maybe the i/c regulator is faulty already. In this case, you will have to change the whole alternator. Reason being the i/c regulator is integrated into the alternator itself for Denso design. This will be the case if your Estima is post 2004 model. I had my family's camry alternator changed in KL last year and it cost approx $920 for brand new original unit. ↡ Advertisement
