Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear April 17, 2010 Author Share April 17, 2010 yup...it definitely looks way better than the (to me stupid looking A8L), ugly 7-series and staid looking base model Jaguar XJ.... notice the interior dashboard of the GE is based from the Hyundai Equus??? even if they sold the GE at $150k, people will buy it by the dozens man!!! Surprise of the Year ain't it???

Blackyv Turbocharged April 17, 2010 Share April 17, 2010 seriously, knowing most car owner's mentality here, as long it's a Geely "brand" or any MIC brand, for those with that kind of money to spare, will not buy it.... ... to them, no face leh.... but if it cost the same level as any mid level categories car market of the nippon/korea made, then it might sell...... Leezld 1st Gear April 17, 2010 Share April 17, 2010 IMHO, the china car companies should try a new radical design for a single model and introduce it as their sports car marquee...that way, maybe can encourage youngsters to buy them.. A good example would be the Kia Koup.. that car is definitely changing the impression of Kia for many people...

Silver_blade Turbocharged May 2, 2010 Share May 2, 2010 This is the sort of car that will 'cheapen' the brand. What have a wanabe RR? Geely's a fairly big co., surely they can afford to have their own unique design instead a lousy copy of another make. It's a joke.
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear May 2, 2010 Author Share May 2, 2010 it's not a joke this Geely GE... i believe if you were to drive this car on the road, people will think you're driving a RR, thus increasing the status of the brand.... people out there just wanna see the size of your car as your status in society.... if you were to rebadge the car with a RR badge, people will be completely fooled into thinking your car is truly a RR.... Kelpie 2nd Gear May 6, 2010 Share May 6, 2010 the rich would not want to disgrace themselves with a china car Simple isn't it? just drop the Geely brand and start slapping all their cars with "Volvo" brand. Solve all the status problem . Regards,
Pocus Turbocharged May 6, 2010 Share May 6, 2010 seriously, knowing most car owner's mentality here, as long it's a Geely "brand" or any MIC brand, for those with that kind of money to spare, will not buy it.... ... to them, no face leh.... but if it cost the same level as any mid level categories car market of the nippon/korea made, then it might sell...... It's not just car owners here, if not so much of the "no face"...it's the quality of their MIC cars...... I'd gladly buy a Geely if one day it has the same built quality, safety standard, performance and efficiency of any japanese car. of course if it looks as sexy or even better than other cars. Look at Hyundai and Kia, in the 1990s people avoid them like plague and those who buy are discriminated like those driving MIC now....but now if you buy a Hyundai/Kia nobody will laugh at you...in fact many might join you.... Tigerwoods Turbocharged May 6, 2010 Share May 6, 2010 This is goona me interesting. If Geely GE is affordable to the common class peasants like me, then Spore will have so many "Luxury" cars around. If the feeling of Lux can be achieved by Geely at the fraction of price of R&R, it will bring a new era to the term Value for Money. I don't mind paying say $100k to get the same level of interior luxury of a $400k car. Engine, OK lah, service every 10kkm won't go wrong one... Alphadog146 Neutral Newbie June 21, 2010 Share June 21, 2010 If you had $200,000 now you have several choices to make. The new BMW 523i, the Merc E250, and the Jaguar XF. If you have any of these you are probably an up-and-coming businessman. Or a doctor. Or a lawyer. These cars provide luxury and comfort, style and grace. Now, take a look at that Geely GE. (It does say Emgrand on it but it's just lexus for chinamen) Since we don't know if it is a good car or not, people just take a look at the styling. At first glance it's a Rolls Royce with curves. Which makes it ugly. The grille, not the Parthenon one anymore, is just one half of the 7-series kidney grille. You still get the spirit of ecstasy mascot, flattened with a hammer. The seats don't match the carpets or the other parts of the car. The wheels are overly small (compared to the Phantom) and the 7-million spoke rims are too flashy. The 3.5 V6 that will go in the car will never match the power of the 2.5 I6, 2.5V6 and 3.0V6 of the aforementioned 3 cars, let alone the BMW 6.75 V12 of the Rolls. If you have seen the 1.5 Geely MK go past your house before, I'm sure you can hear the rattle of the engine. Probably the same with this one. So, it seems now that no wealthy executive would buy this car. Thus it has become the competitor of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Only bengs would buy this, to pose. ↡ Advertisement
