Singaporeans need not apply even if you travel across the Causeway for the interview as they are open to Malaysians only. You will more or less have dat budget in mind. So when you turn up for the $800 offer, the offer, you will be told the offer has just ran out, wrong spec, we have got a better offer for you becoz you are handsome, the offer set does not come with ABC, EFG, HJK & XYZ which you will NEED, therefore its better to get another one....balh blah blah, fully rehearsed sales pitch. Now, its just up to them to convince you to buy one at $1200 or $1100 by throwing in some sweeteners rg. upgrade 'brand', freebies, extended warranty etc. Its a way to seperate the chaff from the seeds. Out of 10 items advertise out, only 1 is worth the buy coz they may have tied down with the supplier for special deals. Whaterever usual price they stated are base on SRP by suppliers which is the suggested retails price but not necessary need to follow. If you want to have a good deal, think the alternative is buy old self life product during the warehouse clearance for old stock. Only when they want to clear old stock, the price would be attractive. For IT products or gadgets, no need to say, best to buy during exhibitions periods coz of the freebies, add-on, purchase upon purchase, lucky draw etc added to it. LCD, players, fridge, washer, etc, best time to buy is during the supplier warehouse sales when they want to clear the old stocks. Always do your homework and check for the prices and items. Sales need not necessary means cheaper. Need to consider the overall bundle that comes with it. Other than that, their price are not that cheap except for a few special offer items. yes you are right. there was once i was in courts just window shopping. then this sales man approached me as i was looking at some camera equipments.he then told me about the on going promotion and i told him i got no money. he then added no worries can go for credit card installment i told him i got no credit card cos i had no intention to buy anything that day. then he said no prob they got in house installment plans which is easy to apply and easy to approve. he took out a calculator and did some calculations and told me that based on 2yrs installment plan , the amt i have to pay per mth is only $XX amount. i did some calculation and after which it shows clearly that for an item of 1.6k value and installment plan of 24mths , the interest i have to pay is about 750 bucks . gosh. EXAMPLE! a camera on display in courts is $1100. this is 110% of the original price. than when they go on a 'promotion sale' or 'okay la, I give you discount' crapp talks, they offer you, $1050. so apparently it looks like you saved $50. BUT, they still got profit of $50 even after discounting you, they just need to keep selling more products only. so, they can always afford the 'never-ending promotion sales'. = This is what my friend ever told me. and what Rb26dett brother has said above. they also earn on the interest. even the damn bloody thing is so cheap. but plus interest..., somemore 2years, 24x the interests. Thargor 1st Gear April 12, 2010 Share April 12, 2010 i read the Straits Times every Saturday and find that Courts is always having massive sales every week. the advertisemnts they put in the papers can be a few pages long. how can a company make $$ if they have are having massive sales almost every week? can any knowledgable ones here provide some insight? So simple lah...think a bit will know lah say i have 1000 items...every week I put 10 on sales. Pple will buy my 10 items...but because they are in my shop, chances are they may buy the 990 items as well. Rotate the 1000 items...i can go on sales for 100 days and the same item will only be on sales every 4 months (roughly). And with the weekly sales, as a consumer...i will go court if i want a good find cos i know there's always something on sales...dont even need to see advertisement for that. They'll make the vendors pay...in what the industry call 'co-share'. Even if Courts does pay, it'll be a min amount. So if you think about it, Courts' upfront layout is minimal, and they earn every single cent of profit from the sales (after deducting cost & expense of course). ....and no, I'm not working for Courts.
