Courts 'everlasting' Sales

i read the Straits Times every Saturday and find that Courts is always having massive sales every week. the advertisemnts they put in the papers can be a few pages long. how can a company make $$ if they have are having massive sales almost every week?

 

can any knowledgable ones here provide some insight?

Margin is always high for everybody who sells the same product hence even if they lower their selling price, there is still profit to be made.

i agree. some neighbourhood shops offer a better price. moreover can bargain somemore.

Don't believe their originally quote selling price, they are just bullsh*ting.

As I mention in my earlier post, do your homework and compare around.

The fine print usually say "first 5 or 10 sets", and the customers queue like mad before the shops open. Over crowding gives other public an impression that the store is on sales, so more people will come in to buy, which are usually cheaper than the other big 5 eletric stores else refund the money. IIRC, they are Best Denki, Harvey etc...

 

So the ads are more to lure the potential customers into the stores really.

Yup....there are always bargain hunters who stake out Courts to get these cheap cheap limited qty items.

As I was quite free during my NUS days, I was able to be the early at some of these sales.

But so far, all items are sold out but the time I was there like 10-15mins after opening time.

I admit I did not queue up at the door before the store open. But then these special priced items are always sold out very very fast within the first few minutes.

 

Courts and HarveyNorman and audiohouse......the prices are only good for those special items....usually the rest of the normal priced items are the same price across these stores.

from a business point of view, its impossible to sustain a business if every week also got geniune sales.

i think courts sales is no good as i some of the items can be bought cheaper elsewhere.

also, do note that one can actually bargain down further listed price... meaning whats on tat price tag is not exactly what u need to pay for ! yes even at C*urts, etc... been doing that.

 

of course their price cant come close to the correct neighborhood shops.

depends on what items you buy also.

Come to think of it... most of our shops are having "SALES" almost every other week.

 

It's just a sales tactic.

up the sales price, then fake the sales by offering 20% when 20% off is the actual sales price haha.

 

anyway courts can go n see lah...i think they have price guaranteed right?

 

for those who have nothing to do, like to kpkb for their rights and justify for MD response...they can try those with price guaranteed coz they can argue their way thru.

i take their prices as a benchmark. then go to neighbourhood shops and bargain down from there.

they lost alot of $$ in last year's financial report, and i think its not the 1st time they losing money

 

anyway i never buy anything from them..... their prices are never never cheaper than outside.... their price is always the RRP only

you guys actually buy stuff from courts? i'm under the impression that, only if you need to pay by installments you go courts. otherwise its bo hua, since installment price and cash down are the same.
