Even synthetic engine oil got shelf life. How long? I dunno. This batch probably is near its shelf life and the company is clearing them. If the package is properly sealed I think it's no problem if you are intending to use it immediately. Usually what you pay is what you get.

Neutral Newbie

Last time my Peugeot 207 consuming EO quit a lot, I buy one of these around $30 at Giant and top up every week. I sold the car eventually...

I will not dare to use them in my current ride [:p]

Do you have a "pay more is better" mentality ?

It's probably just coming from different source.

Giant one at $34 is made in the EU.

Will Giant buy fake oil? Extremely unlikely.

$120 one is probably made somewhere close by for the local carrotheads.

Buy at Giant Tampines.

I use it, no complaints....if you not fussy have cheaper options...$19.90 (4l or 4.5l) other brands.

I agree. Its not only Giant that sells Shell Helix Ultra 5w-40 at this offer price. NTUC and Big Box have been selling the same product at similar prices for quite some time! I'm pretty sure they arent stupid enough to sell fake eo and risk being sued by Shell. If they are not genuine Shell products, they would have been taken off the shelves a long time ago.

Clearly its a condition of your engine that requires a weekly topping up of your engine oil.

Production date for current batch i believe is April 2015. EO has a pretty long shelf life as long as its sealed.

Totally agree with you that there are many that have the "pay more is better" mentality.....these dumb asses are to blame for all the escalating workshop labour and parts prices as well.......

Same as people who go back to agent for normal servicing.

They think paying more means the agent serviced "better" and less likely for the car to breakdown.

So when their car breakdown, like a dead battery, they get disappointed.

They don't know the agent does the same thing as a regular workshop, change engine oil, change oil filter, change air filter.

What's so difficult about it as long as you use the correct parts ?

And forget about the free 100-points checks. This is usually nonsense and most mechanics just tick off without batting an eye. After all, can you positively confirmed they did the checks ?
