The ones in Giant are selling at ~$40, and similar ones in shell stations are selling at more than $100. I am wondering about the difference too.

Profit margin

Has anyone tried Schnell Ultimate II fully synthetic? Made in Germany and selling at S$19.90 for 4 liters.

Seems too cheap.

Well,100% Synthetic  Oil from Germany should be good [thumbsup] ,actually in Germany, many of this "small' factories, produced oil & supplied to mass car makers like VW,car factory seldom filled the cars with expensive oil like Mobil 1[except high performance cars like AMG]...so should be above average oil.

Yes.  Seems better than Carlube, in term of oil consumption.

I usually buy a few bottles and kept it for future use.

Does it have any API or better yet, ACEA (europe) ratings ?

If not, it's may be just base oil, without any protective additives.

And I'd probably steer clear of that.

Well, it works fine. I would use it for an old car or if you like to change every 5k.

Made in Germany?

Which company in Germany is the producer of this product? Is the manufacturer/company name printed on the label?

The Schnell oil has been discussed before in this forum and doesn't seem to be too bad.

http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2648181-schnell-engine-oil-5w40/?hl=schnell

I agreed the oil is fine to use as I had used it before.

But I have a query is the origin of the product.

I believe the last bottle packaging before changing to this current design embossed with "Made in Germany" is designed & produced locally. We can see a number of 'chap-pa-lang'brands around using this bottle shape.

So the crucial part is the oil produced & packed in Germany as claimed on it's packaging?
