PoSB sounds like some govt office. Bureaucracy thicker than the wayang singers makeup.  Sometimes procedures are illogical and senseless such as in your case.
On top of it all, they profess to be “neighbours” first, Bankers second  Maybe thats why, they dont know how to do banking anymore.
i feel for you, man.  I would be so frustrated.   The other similar one is HSBC.

Good thing you chose UOB, in my personal experience, it is indeed the best one in terms of customer experience amongst the 3

I shifted my main cash management bank from DBS to UOB a few years ago and never looked back.

Write them an email, they called me and helped to settle everything in 1 day.  Really good and personal service.

But their apps and internet banking are not as seamless as DBS.  Just my personal experience.

I was trying to open a separate joint account with my parents to help them manage their FD. Essentially I will just apply t bills for them via this new account. First it freezes the money, so they can't get scammed. I also don't want to get it mixed up with my own funds and other bank accounts.

I don't allow them to use internet banking or sing pass In case of scams. so went down to Tiong Bahru Plaza after med appt to do in person.

Reached posb. Queue up for a while. Posb not giving out queue numbers. Only after the staff speak to you then can get queue number. The 60+ year old in front of me was complaining, why so difficult just to get a queue no.

Me: I need to open joint account with my parents.

She: cannot. Need to make appt or do it online. We don't allow walk in.

Me: Cannot just walk in to open a simple account? Huh what about those who don't have digibank access.

She: you can create an account via digibank then add the parents in.

Me: Then how do my parents get approved? I'm specifically coming down cos they don't have singpass.

She: after you do that, then you can walk in to the branch to get approved.

Me: you mean I cannot do it now. But even if I do it now, I have to come down again another time and take a common queue to do it?What's the queue time now?

She: it's about 2-3 hrs.

Me: forget it. It's ridiculous. I took leave and you are just making us jump through hoops for a simple account opening. (I'm not pissed with the wait time but the stupid concept that she doesn't allow you to just walk in and open an account)

Luckily I chose a location with UOB also. Walked in, waited 15 mins to get to the officer. The account opening did take another half hour easy cos it's really slow. But at least it got done in one sitting.

Reminded me why I really disliked visiting posb/dbs in the past when I was forced to go to posb to do certain stuff.

Oh confirm. But for regular use, i think the IB apps are pretty similar. But UOB annoying thing is that they only keep transaction records for last 1.5 months at most.

With school going kids, the POSB Smart buddy system is really good.

Yup. everytime I've needed to do something at UOB (my main bank) in person, I feel it's friction-less.

Wow. Uob just called me and it was a follow up call for customer service satisfaction. Real Singaporean/malaysian. I'm surprised it's not automated in this day and age.

Asked me for any feedback. Then to please reply the customer service sms sent later in one week.

I read this may be the video that started the run. Some young influencer. Still trying to figure out what are the issues. It wasn't clear to me.

If not true that they are running a ponzi scheme, MAS is going to investigate, this guy is going to be in big big trouble.
