Mike1234 1st Gear April 5, 2010 Share April 5, 2010 Bro, yes..... It is using the mercs engine.....However, its an old version engine.....( means not the best and latest engine)..... I give u an example: Chery V5 is using Mitsubishi engine...... However, it is not a MIVEC engine, just some licensed engine from Mitsubishi..... Proton ( old types of cars like Wira, Saga, Perdana, Waja, Satria Neo) Also using Mitsubishi engine instead of their own Campro engine ......( Cos Campro engine wasn't developed on time yet)

loekie69 Clutched December 9, 2017 Share December 9, 2017 Hello , im owning since 3 years a Ssangyong korando 2.3 l petrol engine. with automatic gearbox and aut transferbox. In the beginning it was hard to find parts here in the netherlands , because the specialist say its a reproduction of a mercedes.... But i find out ; the petrol engine is a real mercedes engine, its exactlly the same as used in the mercedes-benz sprinter 214 1995- and the vw lt 23 . The right engine code is; M111.984 ... Im sure this will help you if you need parts, if you looking under these code or mercedes sprinter , you find a lot of cheaper parts! These engine is also used in the other models of ssangyong, and have the same mercedes problems, like ignition coils and leads , and mfa sensor, throttle body issue s..... The automatic gear box is the same as in the mercedes G klasse ,to find out the right filter number i discoverd that it was not a daewoo item but mercedes. inside the gear box you find the mercedes emblem and production marks....the same is for the engine , wich show a ot of mede in germany marks. On the flywheel you will find a plate with the mercedes origin. Yes its true that ssangyong also reproduce engine s ,and are based on mercedes drawings. The last series have nothing to do with mercedes. its a own design . The korando s kj series are also produced in russia under a other name .... We now used this korando in bulgaria where its very rare (i like that) Well i hope its clear now what is a 2.3 liter petrol engine in a ssangyong , its a mercedes engine , from a van . .....
