I'm getting this quite regularly now.

After the engine is started, at 1500RPM -- no vibration.

After warming up, at 1100rpm, -- can feel engine vibrates.

After engaging D gear, -- no vibration.

What is the most likely cause?

Notes:

1 - Car is 4 years old @ 84K mileage.

2 - Last major servicing about 1.5 years ago including decarbonization, fuel injector cleaning with regular 6 months oil change interval.

What is your mileage and how old is your car?

Depending on make of vehicle....engine mountings normally goes kapt between 55k to 60k mileage....or 3 years onwards....first sign is slight to medium tremors or vibes on steering wheel.....then it gets more pronounced....next u'll can feel tremors from the chassis / floor...... and seats especially when you engaged "D" for auto vehicles with handbrake ON or footbrake depressed....that means it's time to change new mountings...

I had the similar experience to my Airwave which is using CVT gears.

The car has always been responsive before changing the CVT Fluid - when the gear is engaged from P to D from a stand still, and upon releasing the handbrake, the car will surge forward in a very smooth automatic manner just like any other car. But now after changing the CVTF, the car sometime will produce an instantaneous jerk before moving off.

When you try to slow down by letting go of the gas pedal and let the car slows down by itself, you can feel the jerk when the car comes to a stop.

Same when I tried to engage to the reverse gear, initially the car will just stay stationary and there will be a sudden engaging of the gear and jerk before moving off.

When all these problems surfaced, I checked with a car technician, he said that my CVT gearbox is failing and there is nothing they can do about it. Since I do not want to rush into replacing the car with another gearbox, I have continued to drive with this problem to seek for 2nd opinion.

Because of the problem do occurred sometime, I believed that the gearbox is still working fine except for some faulty mechanism. Maybe a replacement of parts/mechanisms instead of an entire gearbox swop will solve my headache.

Hereby hoping some kind souls who have encountered similar problems or anyone who happened to know what causes these problems, please help me out here. At least I do not have to continue to drive in agony. More importantly, isn't it silly to be paying for a brand new gearbox when for all you know, only one small component will have to be replaced and all the problems can be solved already.

I am narrowing down to the clutch plate slip that is causing this problem. What other possible causes??? Appreciate all inputs.

Is your car still under warranty? If yes, you can go back to AD.

Else, can try those gearbox specialist like Khang Auto.

Supercharged

Hi All, thanks for the info. My stream started vibrate even at 20k. Asked KM during 20k servicing and they said it is aircon kick in. Like that one. Well, will push them to solve this when going for my 40k servicing. See what they say then.

Btw, my vibration got worse when I pump V-power a few weeks back. Changed back to Caltex 95, much less vibrate.

I have to emphasise that the vibraton is only around ~1100 rpm, there's no vibration in D or R gear or below 1100 rpm (after engine is warm, or restarted)......

My BIL bought a new Toyota MPV recently....and on the first day of collection...I just wanted to see how good his nvh is....when I started the car.... turned ON aircon, footbrake ON, and put gearshift to D.....wahpiang the vibration can be felt on the steering wheel in an obvious manner....told him better send car back to change a set of new mountings when he's doing his 1k servicing....I think this vibration issues all depends on " heng suay " one
