Hi guys.

29 March 2010, 1810H. My father was driving in my Latio Sports along Jurong Town Hall Road going towards Singapore Science Centre. He was going straight. Upon approaching the T-Junction with Science Centre Road, a big lorry (driven by a China worker) wanting to turn right into the minor road (perhaps u-turn) did not check the road carefully and had hit my Latio onto the right fender. This push and impact from the big lorry has sent the Latio right into the minor road. Luckily my father had brake-ed in time and was alone, it hit the right fender, not the driver door area. Both airbags are out. As there are many cars at that time (well known for the busy jurong town hall road esp at peak hours), I highly doubt my father can hit beyond 60KM/H. As there are alot of car at that moment, I was thinking whether are we lucky enough to have a fellow forumer at that scene which may help us to be witness if there ever is a need.

My father was sent to NUH immediately by the ambulance. From what I understand, TP will always be in the accident scene to measure the road and stuff like that, once ambulance is activated. However, when I return to the scene, a kind police officer told me that all TPs are engaged so will not come to scene. I kind of believe that as I realised that the radio reported quite a lot more accident at the point of time. As TPs did not come, I might need help from witnesses.

My father is fine now [sweatdrop] [sweatdrop] beside suffering from neck injury due to whiplash from the seat belt and after shock. Pictures taken on scene, after scene and the next day when my car is in workshop. Click Here For Pictures

Lastly, I would like to say that fellow Lations, you're in a pretty much strong and sturdy car from what I conclude in these pictures and what I saw. Worry not, but still drive carefully! Thanks for your time. [thumbsup]

Hope your father recovers soon.

"a kind police officer told me that all TPs are engaged so will not come to scene" <-- I cannot imagine this happened in a developed country like Singapore

TP sould set strict criteria for allowing FW to drive lorry on singapore road.. I almost got into an accident with one blangah driving a lorry loaded with workers. He was causing a jam along the left most lane by being stationary. As I was overtaking on lane 2, suddenly he tries to filter(obviously didn't check blind spot) into my lane causing me serve right. Dangerous move, luckily no cars on 1st lane. Stopped the lorry and started to F#$#@ the driver, but in return they just smiled.

Yea, me too have been driving pass JTH road. Road is busy plus the upslope then downslope part adds on to the danger. With regards to TP all engaged, well, I cant say much but I cant blame them as I really hard tonnes of accident over the radio suddenly that night. Haha.. Plus I saw 3 while driving already!

oh ya.. the lorry driver still can come down and accuse my father of speeding at the busy road, peak hour time. although having a clean record or phone insurance claim and traffic offence over nearly 25yrs. this may not mean much to you guys, but my father really is a meticulous driver! i came forth asking for a witness with due respect is because im pretty sure that china worker will not speak the truth or may twist the story around. so well, my workshop has submitted the claim, and yet to get any replies from them. haha....

Hi TS,

Understood that kind of anguish you are feeling now and hope someone will come out to be your witnesses soon. I myself got into an accident recently. The car in front of me jam brake hence i jam as well manage to stop in time. But the car behind me couldn't stop in time and rear-ended my car badly, causing it to surge and brush the car in front. The 3 of us reported to our respective insurances and i don't know what the outcome will be and how my NCD will be otherwise affected. Btw, i have a shih tzu as well. Your shih tzu is cute. Take care man.

Actually the workshop guy said that the insurer would look at something call the barometer of liability. In my case, rear damage is enormous and front damage is minimal; good chance the guy in front of me will claim against my insurance and my insurer will claim all (including the front guy's claims) against the guy behind me. But now is still pending. Hence the anxiety.

For your case, is that junction a red-light junction? If no, good chance your father will win the case, as obviously he has the right of way. If it's a red light junction, the truck driver might claim that the lights are on his favour and he has the right of way. In the event of dispute, you will need to have a witness. Else the insurer might decide 50%-50%.

Just my 2 cents. And btw, my shih tzu is just as lazy. Hee

Its a T-Junction without traffic lights! Thats why I spam so many photos just to justify and put everything in place. Actually I have a few nasty instances with foreign drivers driving big trucks and lorries too.. Nowadays if I see them, I make sure I am jolly well at least 3 to 5 cars away in any direction.

Haha ok my bad for missing out on all the photos... In that case just go and report insurance. Right of way prevails and there is not even a red light that he can argue on.
