Watwheels Supersonic March 31, 2010 Share March 31, 2010 The faults named in the article are common in its range of cars, not just this model. Those tin top folding roof also got the problem of not being able to fold up once it's folded down.

Watwheels Supersonic March 31, 2010 Share March 31, 2010 I think the problem lies in the 3rd party parts suppliers in Europe. The parts that these companies supply are just not reliable.

Vhtfhwlego Supercharged April 1, 2010 Share April 1, 2010 If that the way I use the car, AD will be happy as warranty will be over due to mileage clocked in just 1.5years (3 years or 60,000km)! Then AD can wash backside clean clean and not providing a fault prove warranty on repairs as base on service histories on half-fxxk jobs.
Apottedplant Neutral Newbie April 1, 2010 Share April 1, 2010 On what basis are you making that statement? Are you referring to 3rd party parts supplier or tier 2/3 parts supplier? I do not think it's fair for you to make that statement, particularly if you are not a tier 2/3 parts suppliers to tier 0/1 automotive maker. Every company will have its internal quality program, which has to be audited by both ISO and TS auditing body, and also by the customer itself. The customer itself has its own quality system, which also has to be audited. I think what we have to appreciate is that in manufacturing, nothing can be 100% perfect. It is created by man, run by man, and therefore flawed like man. There will be slip ups in the system, and there will be problems that are undetected by the quality system. In particular, some of these 'Friday Cars', are made by your tier 0 makers, on Fridays, by workers who are eager to get off work, and go on to enjoy their weekend. It happens for all marque and all models. Sometimes, it's just pure dumb bad luck, and i believe it doesn't just apply to cars. It can happen to your air-conditioner, your vacuum cleaner, your flat screen tv or your rice-cooker as well. And i'm sure you are curious about what i do, and why i care. Because we have a family business, and we cater pre-dominantly to tier 0/1 automotive customers. So i would like to think i have a clearer idea about this industry in particular. Vinceng Turbocharged April 1, 2010 Share April 1, 2010 Personally, I would never lay my hands on a Peugeot (or Citroen). I used to have a Peugeot Partner van for personal usage, and had the following parts replaced or repaired under warranty. 1) Signal stalk faulty 2) Rubber at sliding door warped 3) ABS warning light on dashboard keeps appearing 4) Brake cylinder pump 5) Passenger side power window motor 6) Petrol tank fuel hose 7) Faulty glove box that could not close properly I would always remember what the Indian Sales Advisor told me when I commented that French cars are so problematic. He said "You could get sued for what you just said." I am glad to have stuck to a Japanese make since then, and it has served me well.
Ben5266 Supercharged April 1, 2010 Share April 1, 2010 Think BM, KM, TCM will soon give us lifetime (10y) unlimited warranty. But, the car must be service by their workshop, else void. The servicing charges is up to them to decide . You want? KM just started to give 5y unlimited warranty, matching C&C for Kia. The reason I see this is, they want to lock down the cars they sell to be service by their workshop only as their workshop might be under utilize right now. So, it is a good marketing strategy (5y unlimited warranty) and at the same time, fill up their empty workshop (Operations efficiency).
Babyt 4th Gear April 1, 2010 Share April 1, 2010 (edited) no doubt driving a peogeot gives an impression of sporty hippy personality. its either go for mainstream models tested by many or go for niche models that ppl dont drive for some reasons including reliability. im wondering how come some of these brands have constant quality issues and yet never recall? Imagine u have a kid in the car and the door just slide open? Edited April 1, 2010 by Babyt

True enough, the charge is higher, but you can have peace of mind. I just don't have confidence on those workshops outside, especially most cars nowadays have so many 'auto' stuffs. For my case, I did not report any problem when I sent in my cars, but BM voluntary replaced my battery during 20K servicing and shaft during 40K servicing. ↡ Advertisement
